Summer Rain

A cool slice of darkness in the midst of summer.
Rain trickles down the glass,
As the velvet black sky explodes above me.
Thunder rumbles in the distance.

The air is clearing, finally, and I feel like I can breathe.

I pull my blankets up to my chin,
And trace the rain down the misted windows.
