I looked around at the expensive chandeliers decorating the room, people were everywhere. Telo’s family was huge and she told me just a few would attend. I slowly walked around looking at the enchanting chandeliers that had beautiful symbols on them when I bumped into someone, Draco. I sighed and properly looked up at him.

Draco had blonde hair with brown eyes he was attractive to most people except for me, his ego made him less attractive to me. He was annoying that was all I could say about him. Draco was Telo’s cousin I

Forgotten whether he was from her father’s side or her mother’s side. I really didn’t care to remember, Draco was constantly hitting on me the guy did not know when it was time to give up. He smirked down at me.

“What a lovely surprise.” His smile widened showing his white teeth.

“Ohhh hey Draco.” I said awkwardly dragging out the hey.

“You look stunning,” he breathed out looking at me in my eyes.

“Thank you.” I said softly trying to find Telo with my eyes. I looked back at him wanting to ask him if he has seen Telo around but I don’t think he would hear me.

His eyes were stuck on my body as he zoned out for a minute. I had no desire whatsoever to know what he was thinking while he was zooned out I quickly spotted Telo and made my way towards her. The room I had entered had a large dinning table and three chandeliers above it with chairs neatly placed beside it.

I reached Telo and she introduced me to everyone in the room, everyone was so nice and welcoming it warmed my heart. It made me miss home but I was glad I met these wonderful people. The room was  filled with Spanish chatters I could not understand a word that was being said because they were so fast.

I was grateful when everyone settled down as the chef announced that dinner was being served. Like robots everyone automatically went to their seats, except for me I had no idea where to sit and Telo was nowhere to be found and so was Nicholas. There were only a few chairs left on the table beside from the head chair and the one on it’s right, Telo told me no one sits on it because it belongs to her father and her mother it’s a sign of respect. I was about to go sit next to Sofia when Saraphina stood up and motioned for me to come sit next to her. Everyone quieted down for a second looking at her incredulously. I made my way towards the seat and sat down.

The seat beside me was empty no one sat close to it which made me curious as to why. When I turned to ask Saraphina she had this big smile on her face, she looked like she was the happiest person in the world. Instead of filling my curiosity I asked for directions for the bathroom I just wanted an excuse to get some air because the puzzled and surprised looks I was getting from everyone was uncomfortable even the staff when they were bringing the food to the table gave me fearful stares.

I excused myself and stood up heading towards the door for some fresh air. I once again started counting the chandeliers and the symbols on them as I walked towards the door they were so enticing.  Bumped into someone hard causing myself to hold on to them for my dear life because if I fell in these heels there was no coming back from the embarrassment.

I felt a cold big hand wrap around my waist. My heart sped up for some reason I looked up at the person I bumped into. Beautiful was all I could think, the man was beyond handsome even with the irritated sneer on his face he looked like he was sculpted by the goddesses themselves creating everything they wanted in a man. His dark hair was freshly cut at the sides, his cold scary blueish grey eyes glared at me, the glare scared me back into reality. I tried moving back away from him,

When all of a sudden his hands tightened around my waist as his cold eyes looked into my own brown ones a glint of something I couldn’t decipher shone in them. Now the glare was wiped off his face and he just stared at me. The way he was looking at me sent chills down my spine. My gut shouted at me to run for the hills this man oozed danger. The aura around him screamed power and dominance.

“Are you okay?” his thick deep commanding voice asked. I felt butterflies  in my stomach taking off into oblivion. His deep sexy voice was coated in his accent which made it more alluring to me.

“Yes” I whispered softly and without warning quickly rushed for the door not giving his hands the chance to restrain me again.

After a few seconds of talking to myself and breathing out loud I went inside and smiled as I headed for my seat and the person sitting beside it was the one and only man I ran into earlier, I faltered in my steps for a second because of the intense stare he was giving me. I finally made it to my seat and sat down looking at my food like it was food. I could feel his stare on me even sitting down he was twice my  size. He looked like he could crush me.

I looked around the table Telo was back but she had this guilty look on her face, she looked like she was about to break down looking at me, whilst beside me Saraphina was practically the happiest person in the universe. I couldn’t understand what was going on. I started eating. The food was delicious, my phone buzzed disturbing my feasting. I quietly excused myself and made my way out to take the call I knew it was Megan from the hospital. I asked her to call me when my patient woke up.

I was about to head back and tell Telo an emergency came up from work when she came out of the house. Telo was never one to cry or show too much emotion which is why I was confused as to why she looked so sad and guilty. Her eyes were pooled with tears that I was sure would never fall she looked devastated and sorry. Without questioning her I pulled her to me and hugged her tightly asking her what was going on.

“I’m so so sorry.” I was confused by now and I was about to ask when the man joined us outside. Telo immediately let go of me and looked at him pleading him with her eyes but his were cold and dark.

“Everything okay?” he asked his eyes pinned on me, I will never get used to his voice. It did things to my body.

‘Yes, I was about to ask Telo to drop me off at work it’s an emergency.”

“Oh okay le-“

“l will take you there.” He simply said looking at Telo who looked at me pleading me with her eyes.

“Uh-thank you bu-“

“l wasn’t asking let’s go.” He started walking away I was about to say something smart probably mumble it but Telo gave me a warning look before she said her goodbyes and hugged me letting me know she was going to tell everyone I had to leave because of the work emergency.

I followed the man to his luxurious beautiful car it was a black Bentley Continental GT V8. He opened the door for me taking me by surprise,

“Thank you Mr. Marino.” I said noticing his seats as I slid in the car admiring it on the inside. His leather seat were printed in italics Mateo Marino,

“It’s Mateo to you.” He shut the door and got in the car. He brought the car to life and zoomed out of the gates. The car was filled with comfortable silence but I was fiddling with my hands and looking out the window avoiding looking at him because if I did I would stare for too long.

His phone rang and he cursed in Spanish, he spoke angrily at the person on the other side I noticed when he was angry his accent was thick and his voice was scary, then he suddenly became calm too calm he smirked and hung up. The car swerved making me quickly pray for my life. We were going in the wrong direction.

“What’s going on?”

“Change of plans. I have to handle something first.” His eyes found mine daring me to protest I wasn’t dumb enough to fall into his trap. I shut my mouth and continued looking out the window.

The car finally stopped at a warehouse in the middle of nowhere it looked abandoned I gulped feeling scared but I didn’t question him.

“Stay in the car I will be back.” He never waited for a reply as his rude ass walked towards the warehouse. After a short five minutes I heard three gun shots. My heart was on override as I waited in the car. I was so scared I felt like crying, here I was in the middle of nowhere with some man I didn’t know who I was scared of.

I started breathing out loud until my breathing was back to normal. I jumped when I heard the door being yanked open, I felt like puking. I breathed out loud looking at Mateo and scooting away from him as far as possible he didn’t seem to notice as he wiped his blooded hands with a napkin and put it in his pocket. There was blood all over his shirt.

I gulped as he turned to look at me, I quickly looked else where, shivers ran down my spine as I saw the sadistic glint in his eyes. He is a psychopath the look in his eyes confirmed it. I tried mentally calming myself down by counting and breathing in and out slowly. The drive back to the city was uncomfortable I couldn’t wait to get away from him.

“Please take me home. I no longer felt like going to work I didn’t want my patient to see me devastated and terrified, I knew if I didn’t show up Megan would cover for me. After a few minutes we reached my apartment as I was about to get out he locked the doors I shivered feeling him turn towards me by now my eyes were glossy.

I slowly turned to look at him the smell of blood was painted on him the tears rolled down my cheeks his thick thumb wiped them away, my body was shaking I was now terrified of this man when his skin made contact with mine my body tingled with a foreign emotion. I looked up at his eyes letting him touch me afraid he would kill me if I moved.

“Goodnight my Queen” I shivered at the title he had given me, I was scared to the bone and I was not about to argue with him while he had a taste for blood the look in his eyes told me he still wanted more when he entered the car earlier on. He tenderly kissed my forehead lingering as my heart exploded I waited patiently and shut my eyes praying for him to remove his lips from my skin so I could go home.

He finally did and when he unlocked the car doors I jumped out and hurried to my apartment not looking back at the devil in the car. I finally reached my apartment panting and shut the door sliding down my door crying hysterically, I could still feel his cold lips on me. What did I just witness tonight. What did I get myself into. I was scared of the future because I knew surely he would be back to check on his Queen.
