"She's not going." Cole replied and then turned back towards Mackenzie, not even bothering to look at me.

I'm not surprised that Cole is back to acting like his rude self towards me, but I'm surprised that it actually kind of hurts. I mean, he's always been mean to me, so I'm not really sure why it feels worse to me now.

"Jason will come with to keep an eye on us! I promise I'll hold her hand the entire time." Lela said and sent me a quick wink before turning to Cole.

"No. And if that's all you wanted to say, you can leave." He said and Lela glared at him.

"Mackenzie, Ayla, please give us a moment alone." She muttered.

Mackenzie and I walked out of the room and shut the door behind us.

"Why doesn't Cole let you out?" Mackenzie asked as I leaned against the wall with my arms crossed.

"It's a long story." I sighed, not in the mood to explain to her everything that happened that has led me to be here.

"Cole's a dick. He's been like this since he was young." She chuckled. "Don't let him get to you."

"How long have you known him for?" I asked and she looked to the floor with a smile as if remembering something.

"Since birth. We're really close friends." She replied and I slowly nodded, not knowing what to say.

A few long seconds of silence passed between us before the door opened and Lela stepped out.

"We're leaving in five minutes." She said, cheerfully and then walked away, leaving me standing there confused.

Cole actually agreed to let me go?

Mackenzie went into Cole's room and I went to Layla's so that I can get ready.

While I got dressed, I couldn't help but think about what Lela said to Cole to make him agree.

Once I finished getting ready, I slipped on socks, grabbed some of the money I earned from doing missions for Cole, and then walked out of the room. I went downstairs and saw the girls putting on their shoes while Cole and Jason stood to the side, talking quietly with each other.

"Cole and Jason will be accompanying us." Layla said as I put my shoes on.

"Great." I muttered sarcastically and she chuckled.

I checked to see if I have my phone in my pocket, which I do, and then followed them out of the house.

"Can I ask you something?" Mackenzie asked as we walked towards the car, following behind the others.

"Yeah." I replied and looked up at her.

"You don't have anything going on with Cole, right?" She asked and I was a bit taken back from the question.

What made her think that? Cole and I have barely talked or even looked at each other since she came. I mean, there were times where Cole and I have had some...moments, but we don't really have anything going on.

"No." I replied, shaking my head a bit.

"Are you sure?" She questioned and I looked up at her with furrowed eyebrows.

"I'm positive." I answered. "Why are you asking?"

"Nothing. I'm just curious. There's clearly some tension between the both of you." She giggled and I forced out a small chuckle before turning away from her.

We got into the car and I put my seatbelt on as Cole began to drive.

Throughout the ride, I sat silently and listened to Lela and Layla argue about what songs they wanted to put on. Janet would laugh at them from beside me and Mackenzie talked with Jason.
