Chapter 3: Names and Surnames

Start from the beginning

I did look like my mother but only for her coloring. My mother was elegant and sophisticated while I was small and pixie-like. Nothing like my mother's long line and classic beauty.

"Emmeline's mother says the same though she doesn't like to admit it," My father added with a laugh causing Mr. Malfoy to join in while my mother rolled her eyes.

"Drinks are ready," Damion commented as he pushed himself away from the bar with his glass now filled with a dark amber liquor.

"Any takers?" The four adults rose their glasses up and I watched as the house elf shot four balls of floating amber liquor toward each raised glass, landing clearly with a small plopping sound.

"Want a sip?" Damion asked as moved to sit next to him on the  coach with Edward sitting close by. I gave my brother a grateful smile before taking his glass and bringing the drink to my lips.

A strong aroma met my mouth, tasting of Cinnamon that burned down the back of my throat, going numb as I swallowed. I held back a cough before giving the glass back to my snickering older brother.

"So," He asked through a laugh. "How'd you like it?" I gave him a knowing smile before lifting my chin and turning away from him while confidently saying I liked it.

"You're such a liar, Ava," Ed commented from behind us making me turn to look his way.

"I did like it! I'm not a liar." Ed rolled his eyes before returning to the book he had so cleverly snuck into the room. I caught Damion's eye as he winked my way before turning his glance to my father who had called his name.

"Mamen are we allowed to have fire whiskey?" Theo asked stopping short next to Draco who lingered behind his mother at the coach. My mother frowned, as all mothers do when their underage sons ask for an alcoholic beverage.

"Absolutely not, You know the rules."

"Yes," Theo said, coming closer to the coach, "but Damion just gave Ava some and since I'm older.."

"Cut it out Theo, I gave her a sip. If you want some so badly ask Ed for his glass. He doesn't even like fire whisky," Damion cut in from across the room causing Ed to look up from his book accusingly.

"I like fire whisky! I just don't drink it down as fast as you do, Damion."

"Boys that's enough," my father called out, making my brothers go silent. I watched as Mr. Malfoy give his son a look, making Draco smirked in a way that made me turn away annoyed.

Great. Now the Malfoy's were really judging us. And for what? Being a loud family?

"You!" my father ordered, snapping his fingers to reveal a house elf at his side.

"Serve the children elderflower wine if they want it."

The house elf gave a quick nod before scurrying off to the bar again leaving Theo to pout.

"I don't want elderflower wine. It's nasty."

"I've had elderflower wine before, right father?" Draco asked, as he was handed a glass from another house elf. Mr. Malfoy nodded.

"You had it last Christmas with the minster's family."

Draco nodded, as if he already knew this fact before taking a sip. A glass was handed to me and I took a sip for myself.

"Oh now I remember. Though I remember they served it cold with fruit," Malfoy commented. Even from across the room I could see Theo's eye roll.

"I didn't realize there was a particular way to drink children's wine," Theo muttered making me snicker. Damion elbowed me in the gut before standing up and moving toward my father while Theo gave me a gratifying look.
