You don't fall easily.
You had to be like that, you'd decided that due to previous actions - you wouldn't let anyone make you that weak - not again.
You were the ace in your team, a leader to your underclassmen. You wouldn't let anyone diminish the strengthened persona you needed to maintain.
But there was something about him, that smashed that declaration to pieces. Maybe it was the way he always seemed comfortable, or that his grin was sharp and infectious or maybe it was how he always seemed cool and controlled no matter the situation. You didn't quite know. And you didn't like it one bit.
But, it wasn't like you knew him - like you saw him all that much. Often at practice games, maybe at a tournament. But never enough, not enough to make claim. Because you weren't friends.
It doesn't matter right? It's nothing? It's just all in your head.
