"On a scale of one to ten, how much does it hurt?"

I often hear doctors and nurses ask this question and every time i would rate my pain as a seven.

Period cramps? A seven

Muscle pains? A seven

Chest pains? A seven

My physical pain was always a seven.

And one day someone asked, "On a scale of one to ten, how mentally and emotionally hurt are you?"

And this time, I finally gave it a ten. Because this kind of pain is something that never goes away. It's always there.
