Laxus was sitting out on his small balcony, looking up at the rainy sky where thunder was raging. He wasn't scared by the branches of light hitting the ground, creating the loud sound that is thunder.

Not even when he was little had he been scared. Sure, he had respect for the lightning, but he was fascinated by it, how it connected the earth and the sky with grace, though being hit by it would lead to an almost certain death. He was fascinated by how uncontrollable and dangerous and beautiful it was.

He watched with a smile as the lightning continued to strike down.

Laxus had always thought that lightning was one of nature's most beautiful things. People could say rainbows or autumn leaves or snow was prettier, but no, not according to Laxus. Especially the snow, cold and wet.

After a little while the sky calmed down and the lightning stopped. The rain stopped falling as well, and Laxus sighed, stood up from his cracked plastic chair and walked back into his one room apartment.

He looked over at his 7 year old brother, Natsu, asleep on the worn couch. The little boy's pink hair was messier than ever, and his face was one with the pillow. Laxus put a blanket over Natsu and sighed. He looked so innocent cuddled up on the couch like that.

Laxus sat down at his desk and turned his old laptop on. He connected to the neighbours' wifi like usual and logged onto tumblr.

He checked the digital clock in the corner of the computer screen. 10.33PM. He turned around to check on Natsu, and saw that his little brother was sleeping peacefully. That was a little strange, Laxus thought, but in a positive way, since the poor kid would usually wake up screaming from nightmares.

Maybe his little brother had a thing for lightning as well.

Laxus woke up by someone shaking him. He realised that it was most definitely a hungry Natsu, sat up which made him feel the pain in his back and neck and found that he had fallen asleep at his laptop. Again. He knew he had to stop spending late nights online.

Natsu saw that Laxus was awake, and basically started shouting at him. Laxus only caught a few words in his half asleep state, but he got the point.

"Laxus... Food... School... Mirajane!"

At the sound of his soon-to-be-girlfriend's name, he sat up properly and looked at his little brother.

"Yeah, food... I'm hungry too, let's grab something fast so you're not late for school."

Natsu pouted. "That's what I just said."

"Oh yeah..." Laxus let out a slightly forced chuckle, for the sake of his brother. "I'm just repeating it so that I won't forget. You know how easily I forget stuff."

Natsu smiled widely. "Yeah, I really do." He smiled and started tugging Laxus' arm. "Come on now, don't go back to sleep."

Laxus got himself up from the chair after quickly shutting down tumblr. He didn't want Natsu to get the wonderful idea of scrolling through the dashboard and finding porn or something else that wasn't appropriate. He didn't want to have to explain that one right now.

He went over to the kitchen of the tiny apartment, grabbed three eggs out of the refrigerator, quickly washed yesterday's food out of a frying pan, and put the eggs in the pan with minimal effort, and Natsu watched with wide eyes, fascinated as ever.

Laxus flipped one of the eggs, because he knew Natsu wanted it that way. He took the eggs out of the pan, put them on bread slices, and added some salt as a final touch. Natsu grabbed his plate and ate hungrily.

Laxus, however, didn't eat as passionately as his brother. He looked at his eggs, lying there perfectly on the bread, waiting for him to eat it.

Laxus didn't feel like eating. He just wanted to sleep. Laxus wondered why nothing interesting happened to him, but at the same time it did. Everything with his family, and his Senior year up to this point was chaos, but he still felt like nothing truly exciting was happening.

He somehow managed to eat the breakfast he had made, even making some light conversation.

"Natsu, what got you into such a good mood today?"

"I slept good tonight! I have so much energy!"

After breakfast Laxus went to change. When he had looked through his drawer five times he finally realised that he had nothing good to wear, so he just went with the clothes he had on from yesterday.

Laxus ran a hand through his hair, almost making it look like lightning had struck down in it, and went and put his big coat on. He put a jacket on Natsu and sighed.

"Natsu, did you brush your teeth?"

"Yeah!" Natsu said and nodded eagerly, smiling wide to show off his teeth. Laxus smiled back. "Okay, do we have everything?" Natsu nodded. "Let's go to the bus."

When they got to the bus stop, Laxus met his friends, and Natsu met his, and so the brothers split up. They didn't sit in the same part of the bus, or have school in the same building. After they parted like this every morning, they didn't talk until they both got home. At least their schools were close to each other, if anything happened.

Laxus sat down in a seat in front of what he counted as his closest friends.

"Who actually likes Thursdays?" Laxus heard Sting say with a sigh.

"I have no idea." Sting's boyfriend, Rogue, answered. He leaned forward into the row of seats in front of him. "Laxus?"

"I fucking hate Thursdays."

Sting chuckled. "Man, you hate all days."

Obviously.
