two days ago dad told me that alanna and sebastian would be moving in with us. two days ago dad told me that he really loved alanna. two days ago i didn't want to jump off of a bridge.
it's not like i didn't want dad to be happy. it's just that i wish he would have told me something before inviting them over. i mean, i don't even think sebastian is happy with the ordeal.
someone knocks on my door, but i ignore it. i didn't want to interact with alanna or sebastian or dad or jesus or anyone else for that matter. too much too fast.
"sam," dad says, "i know you're in there. i also know that you're probably hungry and i also know that spaghetti is your favorite."
i groan and push off the bed. slowly i crack the door open to less than an inch, "what?"
"don't you think you should at lease try to get to know alanna and sebastian?"
i chuckle, "not really, no. i'm busy with homework."
dad raises an eyebrow, "come to dinner. that's not a question, sam. you have ten minutes."
dad walks down the hallway and stops at the top of the steps. he turns back to look at me with a smile on his face and says, "ten minutes, sam."
i huff, "alright, alright. i'm going."
