Chapter 13 Rumors

Start from the beginning

"Baby?"

"I was talking to a fan before you got in and she said that she was a fan of me, so I laughed it off and went why... and she said,  that I overcame my depression and anxiety and then she mentioned my postpartum... no one should know about that but us and our families. I guess some magazine printed up the story and she thought I knew about it." I slide the magazine over to him. "Oh, Zo." He scans and pages and flips through them. "No one talked to you about this?"

"No one, the only people who know.."

"Do you think your mom mentioned it to extended family?"

"Maybe? Gosh, why did they have to talk about me being pregnant with Skye? I want to forget that even happened. "The how I felt part not  giving birth."

"I get it. "I'll talk to my team about this and see if we can get it to go away alright?"

"If fans ask questions about it should I address it?" I asked biting my nails. "If you feel like it," He says. I nod and slide down into the bed. "I was  wondering, when do you want the wedding to be?" He asks changing the subject.  "I was thinking when Skye is older, like thirteen?" He nods and sets the magazine on the nightstand. "So a while," He says rolling over to face me. "Yeah is that okay?" He nods and brushes a stray hair away from my face. "That's perfectly fine."

So  I have to talk about the article because it seems to be mentioned every time I leave the house and I'm afraid someone will mention it to Skye.  I'm waiting for her  to get out of school when picking Skye up from school on Thursday when another mom comes up to me. "Zoë! How are you?"  Her voice cheerful, I'm taken aback by her cheeriness and stumble for a reply. "F- fine?" She looks really concerned and clears her throat before she begins talking. "I was at the store before going to my yoga class and saw you on the cover of the magazine at the check out counter, naturally I was intrigued so I picked it up.  I never knew your pregnancy with Skylar was so hard. Were you anxious about becoming a young mother and was that why?"

"I was never interviewed for that article, I don't know where they got that information."  Her face falls a little. "Is it all true though?"

"Those magazines make up things all the time." I reply calmly.

"Really? Well, the article said the information was from your mom." I freeze and feel the blood drain from my face. "O-oh?"

"Have you read it? It's a beautiful piece." She says smiling. "I read part of it," I mumble as the kids come out. I quickly say goodbye to her and get Skye before stopping by our house to get the magazine before going over my moms.

"Zoë so good to see you!" She says giving me a hug, I hold the rolled up magazine tightly and force a smile. "I wanted to talk to you about something."

"Mommy, can I go upstairs?" Skye asks. "Sure  do you have snacks in your backpack?"  "Uh huh!"

"Ok good."

"What did you want to talk about?" I unroll the magazine. "Oh yes! I was at  one of Shawn's shows and this journalist came up to me and asked if I wanted to do a story, so I agreed and went to his office and did it about you." "Wait you're saying some random journalist was at Shawn's show and you just talked to them." "Well he had on the professional lanyard and all, I thought he was part of Shawn's team."

"No, why would you do that!?" I yell.

"I just thought..."

"I thought you had okayed it, the interviewer said they would send the drafted story to you and then publish it." I flip open the magazine and slam it down on the table. "What part of this did you think I would want to share with the entire fucking world mom?!"
