Shawn POV
After a lot of back and forth, I decided that maybe we should hold off on the wedding. I hate that I'm doing this, but maybe this is what's best for Zoë and I right now. Currently, I'm in California and Zoë flew out last night and is meeting me for brunch to discuss how we're moving forward.
"I understand that you want to wait on the wedding, I'm not mad Shawn, I get it. Also, I want to go take some classes at the university and a wedding on top of that? Would be too much." "You are not upset?" She smiles and sips her iced coffee. " I'm not." " Have the paparazzi seen Skye?" she shakes her head. " No the fans keep commenting on my twitter I've stayed quiet though." "I.. may talk about everything during an interview this week." " As in the engagement and..."
"That I have a kid," I hold my breath my eyes big. " You understand how much backlash you will get?" I take a long drink of my soda and think of what to say next. " I don't want to keep lying Zoë." "Whatever you think is right." She says. Her eyes are unreadable but I know she's stressed. " Thank you for putting up with all of this, and I'm sorry for dragging you into it, you don't deserve me."I apologize. "Yes I do and I don't care about the outside world, I care about us and raising Skye well." She kisses my cheek and nods toward the parking lot. " Shouldn't you be leaving soon?" "I should, how long are you in town?" Till tomorrow, my mom is watching the little one." She smiles a little. "You know... I am going to the Summertime Ball in London, and I always need a plus 1." I wink. "Shawn I can't just go to London! But that sounds amazing. " I can always ask my mom if she can watch Skye, you don't have to stay long, it would just be nice to be with you like before..." She smiles and looks so beautiful right now sitting outside on a patio in LA her hair pushed behind her ears her hazel eyes seem to sparkle in the sunlight.
"When do you go to England?"
" June."
" So a few weeks.."
" Yeah." She taps her fingers on the table and seems deep in thought. " I have to think about that." "Just let me know." " I will." "Ready to go?" " Yeah." We leave the restaurant and are walking down Hollywood Blvd and for once I wish I could walk down this street and not worry about anything. Yes, I'm grateful for my career and my fans are incredible but sometimes it takes its toll. "Are you ok?" She whispers her grip on my hand tightens. " Just overthinking." I open the car door for her and wait for her to get in and close it. I get in the driver's seat and stick the key in the ignition. "Something's wrong I can tell" She looks at me hazel eyes full of concern. " I just don't know how people will react hearing about this secret I've been holding. " I know." What if it goes badly? The tour doesn't happen and I'm back to living in Canada, not doing what I love?" " That won't happen, Shawn, you know that." I start the car and grip the wheel tightly. "I'm with you every step of the way, whatever you figure out to do." "Thanks, babe." " Anytime."
"I've never been in this building, nor noticed how close it was." She says looking up at the Jimmy Kimmel live studio. "Yeah." She holds my hand tighter noticing my frown. "Things will be ok, just go do what you love." She says as we enter. "Are you staying for soundcheck?" She nods. "Yeah and then I need a nap she jokes following me down the long hall.
