Chapter 13 Rumors

"That many girls like him?" I nod as I check the flight board again. "Zoë!" I turn and see a girl about sixteen holding out a notebook and a pen her hands shaking. "C- can  I have an autograph or a picture? You and Shawn are so cute together im a big fan!" I'm confused at the last part, how can you be a fan of me? I've done nothing but go to school and raise a kid, also should I go over? I mean she's the only other person here so..."Sure, why are you a fan of me? I'm just his girlfriend." I laugh and sign the notebook while holding Skye's hand. "Well, you've overcome your depression and anxiety, right? I read in a magazine that you had postpartum when you had your daughter." I freeze. How does she know that? "W-what magazine was it?" I stutter. "Oh um..." She slides off her backpack and pulls it out. "I thought your story was really inspiring."

"When was this published?"

"A few weeks ago," she says looking confused. "I'm sorry I've just never seen this story and didn't think anyone knew about all that."

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I thought you knew and uh I feel bad." The girl says tucking the notebook in her bag and puts her phone away. "It's not your fault. What's  your name?"

"Oh um, Sam, "

"Are you a fan of Dad's?" Skye bursts out.

"Yeah, a big fan." She replies bending down to her height. "I'm sorry if I interrupted I was just waiting for his flight but maybe I shouldn't." She looks around nervously. "Sam it's fine no one else is here," I say shrugging my shoulders. "Okay, I'd love to meet him, he's my idol."

"I hope you do, he's pretty great." I glance up at the flight board again. As the hours pass more and more girls show up.  Some of the girls come up to me and all of them are asking about the article that Sam  just told me about and I don't say anything about it ( what would I have to say?)

"Well, are the rumors true?" One girl snaps. "I  was never interviewed for that story I have no idea how it came about. "So it's not true?" Another asks. "I mean..." I fumble with my words when I hear a roar of screams and know Shawn's here, now the only problem is he can't see me. I move closer and see that there a barricade up now. I pick Skylar up and scream his name. He's only a few feet in front of me walking past and I can tell by his eyes that he's nervous. The sea of girls sure forward toward the barrier and closer to him. I try to stay calm for her but I'm freaking out. "Shawn! Shawn!" I scream trying to get his attention, luckily his security guard sees me and tells the girls to move back and makes a space for me in front of him. I catch up to Shawn and follow him out of the airport. I can feel Skye shaking in my arms and kiss her cheek hurridly and whisper that she's okay.

Security whisks us out to the waiting cars. I feel myself being shoved in the back of the car and feel like I might hyperventilate.  I set Skye on the seat between us and ask if she's okay. She nods her cheeks red. "Zoë why did you bring Skye to the airport? You know that's where the fans go and the possibility to get mobbed it at it's highest!" He says turning to look at me. Skye is quite her eyes wide (she's probably still in shock of what happened) "I'm s- sorry, when we first started waiting there was only one fan and we chatted and then after a while, more people showed up and I couldn't text you that and.. I'm sorry." I sob.  He says nothing and wraps his arms around me and kisses my head gently. "Skye are you okay?" He asks softly. She says something but very quietly.

"How about we go home and watch a movie?" He suggests.

"Little Mermaid?" Skye asks making me giggle as I wipe my tears. "Sure and pizza for dinner."

"Yes!"

Shawn and Skye are downstairs watching a movie while I'm sitting in bed trying to get my heart rate to go back to normal. "Zoë? Are you still shaken up about what happened at the airport?" I nod and flip the page of the magazine and frown seeing the words. They really did talk about the most intimate parts of my life and made it seem like I told them.
