A shadowed, hooded figure raced down a dark corridor, clutching a bundle to its chest.

Soft red light glowed through the gnarled fingertips as it grasped the spherical wrappings tightly. Wet drips sounded as they fell from the ceiling and landed on the stone ground, creating small puddles that were quickly disturbed as the figure rushed through them.

The cloaked creature hastily turned the corner and stopped dead in its tracks. A small pillar, or rather, a shrine, decorated by silken fabrics, lay in the centre of the revealed chamber. The figure dropped its hood, revealing bright red hair, shorn almost to the roots. Slightly pointed ears adorned the sides of the creatures head. Breathing heavily, he carefully unwrapped the glowing orb. With trembling fingers, the creature stretched out his arms to gently place it down atop the shrine, surrounded by silk cloths and cushions.

The creature knelt heavily to his knees, almost collapsing. One hand fluttered by his throat as the other reached inside his cloak to timidly draw out a gilded dagger. His breathing slowed as he calmed, the task at hand consuming him. With one small gesture, the knife hovered in the air aligning with the height of his neck. He whispered a few words, and the dagger whipped forward, and as clean as a blade of grass, dropping through the breeze, it sliced through his throat, cutting off his breath.
