Another Girl

   Sitting quietly in the dojo of the turtles' lair, you were attempting to meditate with Splinter in order to kill time. You were waiting for the turtles to return from their usual patrol. You didn't mind hanging out with Splinter. He showed genuine care for you and put your anxieties at ease, even when he asked you about your ex. His voice was soothing and he was very patient with you.

   He told you about his old flame Tang Shen, and the way he would talk about her made you smile. You could tell how much he loved her. It was really sweet seeing him smile just by saying her name.
   You heard the guys coming in from the dojo entrance and stood up to greet them, immediately locking eyes with Donnie's copper ones. He had linked arms with a redhead girl with freckles dusted over her cheeks and her nose. She had big blue eyes underneath her carrot-coloured bangs, but the first thing you noticed was her slender hands wrapped over Donnie's forearm.

   "Hey Donnie... Who's... Who's this?"
  
   You saw Donnie was startled by you and he immediately tried to hide the fact the other human girl was there by pushing her behind him, which only made the situation worse for you.

   "Nobody! Well, I..."

   "Donnie, what are you doing?" She said, pushing through to him, "Hey, I'm April. What's your name?"

   You stuttered, not sure how to respond as you had a lump in your throat, "I'm... I... I have to go, I'm sorry," 

   Tears were forming in your eyes, but you were damned if you were going to let them see you cry like this. You quickly ran out of the dojo and went to the bathroom. You didn't want to leave, but you didn't want to stay around for people to react. You told yourself little things as you let out a small stream of tears. 

   "I knew this was too good to be true. I cant believe I'm so gullible. Did I really think I was going to be so important to someone?" 

   You washed your face with cold water to cool your tear-induced eyes. Donnie must have had you fooled so easily, he practically had you wrapped around his green fingers. You were trying so hard to stop the toxic process of comparing yourself to the redhead.

   Donnie watched you run out and he felt like the world collapsed around him as he was caught in his web of little white lies.

   "I knew this would happen! Why didn't I do anything to stop it?"

   "She had to meet her sometime. Did you really think that she wouldn't notice??" Raph said.

   "Guys, what are you talking about?" April asked.

   "It's just that... She... (Y/n) is my girlfriend and... I used to have a crush on you so I got nervous and then this happened..."

   "Since when did you get a girlfriend? You didn't even tell me either? How did you meet her? When did you meet her? Wait, isn't she that girl from school who had the..." April trailed off and had a deep wave of concern wash over her. 

   "I need to talk to her... but I don't know what to say," Donnie covered is face.

   "I'll come with you. I feel like it would be good for her to hear from me too,"

   Donnie looked at her and smiled. "Let's go see where she went,"

  They both headed off into through the subway entrance, not knowing where you could be, although you were only in the bathroom. It took a good 10 minutes to find you, since you came out of the bathroom and decided to hang out with Mikey in his. Mikey was very easy to talk to for these things because he was a hardcore optimist. He liked having you around and was pointing out how Donnie never meant to do any harm.

   "Listen, I know my bro. I've known him forEVER. He really likes having you around. Since he met you, he's been more happy and he even had a weird confidence boost, which is sick. Trust me, he just wants to set things right," Mikey sorted through his action figures and toys to keep himself busy while he talked.

   "I trust you, Mike. I really do, but I just keep... Comparing myself to her. I feel like she's just better than me,"

   "No way she's better than you, (Y/n). You're both awesome. Donnie's seen a lot of human girls since we went to the surface, but he picked you for a reason. I don't know what that reason is, but I bet it's cool. You're his gurrrl,"

   You gave Mikey an unenthusiastic smile before leaving his room, also a demand that he clean his room. You made your way to Donnie's lab to see him, but he wasn't there. Before you could start doubting Mikey's input, you heard Donnie behind you.

   "(Y/n)! April and I scoured the sewers for you, where were you? I was worried!"

   "I was in the bathroom... and I had a talk with Mikey. I'm sorry I made you worry--" You began.

   "No, I'm sorry. I should've told you about April. Instead, I let my anxiety keep me from telling you the situation and when I did, I just made things worse. I just wanna clear it up with you. I used to have a crush on her, yes, but I don't anymore. I didn't mean for this to happen,"

   "Yeah, I didn't know about you until now and I can tell Donnie really appreciates you. If you forgive him, maybe we can start over. I'm April. You must be (Y/n), right?" April said with a warm smile.

   You smiled back at her and you shook her hand. Donnie looked at you, waiting patiently for a response.

   "I forgive you, Donnie," You flashed him a smile which demonstrated your forgiveness in a beautiful way.
