Your left arm was still stinging from the cut. Donnie dabbed on it from time to time to keep the blood from leaking out. You asked him out of curiosity,
"If you don't mind me asking, how did you become a giant turtle? I'm not really scared anymore, since you're being so sweet... U-Unless it's the shock," you tried to sound lighthearted even when you were shivering like a chihuahua.
"Well, thank you. I'm a turtle because... I was mutated? I mean, I started out as a turtle and I was mutated when I was a baby. "
"I see. Can you tell me your brothers' names?" you asked, enjoying the distraction from the pain.
"Sure. The one in the blue mask is Leo, The one in the red is Raph, and the orange masked one is Mikey."
"Okay."
"Leader's Leo, HotHead's Raph, Jokester's Mikey."
"Okay," you repeated, showing a weak smile.
"Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
You shook your head.
You tapped Donnie's shoulder with your right hand with an idea to help your arm. "Donnie? You see my bag over there? Can you go get it?"
"Sure."
He got up and grabbed your bag. He brought it over to you and you rummaged through it trying to find something useful. You began to blush a little seeing something that could help. You started stammering,
"Um... Donnie?"
"Yeah?"
"Would this be able to help?"
"What?"
You took out a menstrual pad and smiled nervously. He looked at you and nodded, "Yeah. That should be great. Sanitary and absorbent. Much better than these old things." Donnie reached out for the pad after taking away his wrist wraps.
The entire conversation felt awkward now; you were nervous about showing that you, a girl, had a completely natural bodily function. It started to seem silly as he wasn't weird around you at all with the topic. He put the pad on your arm vertically with the absorbent part on the inside.
You watched him closely; you liked how genuinely concerned he seemed to be for you and then, soon enough, you saw the turtles in the distance. Raph was holding a box with a handle, much like an old lunchbox, and Mikey had a thermos in his hand. They jumped down from the roof and handed you the thermos. They gave Donnie the box and you took the pad off of your arm.
"So what are you gonna do first?"
"Well, I should wash it off and see how deep it is first, seeing if you need stitches or not. Then we'll carry on from there."
"Okay..."
He washed your arm off with a bit of water and said,
"Okay, it's not too deep, it's just a simple skin damaging, so you won't need any stitches, but it needs to have some bandage, so nothing infects while the skin's healing. With me so far?"
"It's pretty simple."
"Okay good."
"Do you have a little bit of disinfectant? I'd like to be more sure when it comes to scars like this."
"Yes. Are you sure you want to use it? It hurts a lot."
"Well, just a few dabs."
"Okay..."
He poured a little bit of disinfectant on the pad and dabbed some of it onto the scar. You started to clench your fist in pain. It didn't hurt as much as if you had poured the bottle on. The pain was over and Donnie wrapped the bandage all over your arm. You started to smile because the large scar on your arm was going to be okay because of four turtles you met. You were happy enough to hug them all. First you hugged Leo, then Mikey, then you tried to hug Raph but he just stepped away from you, and you hugged Donnie the tightest because you felt much closer to Donnie then to the others.
He hugged you back. "Are you going to be okay?"
"Well, I don't know what to tell my Mom."
"Well, just tell them that you got hurt by your old boyfriend and you had bandage with you. Then you can wear sweaters often if you want. It's a good season to."
"Thank you. It sounds good."
"Okay. We can bring you home," Leonardo said.
"Can I see you again?"
"Maybe. Just make sure nobody's around and look at the rooftops. Usually, we're only out at night time."
"Okay."
They all brought you home, which you led them to, and you said bye to them all, thanking them once again. When you got to your safe space, it felt liked all of the emotions were catching up to you. A feeling of nausea washed over you as you got in through the window and your mom, Genevieve, rushed to you.
"Where have you been?? What happened to you?? Are you okay????" She wrapped her arms around you and nearly picked you up.
"I'm okay mom. I was hanging out with Drake and he... he hurt me. I had some bandage with me when I escaped." You hugged her back and took in that comfort right away as the severity of the situation began to hit now that your mother know.
"That's my girl... Dr. (Y/n). As long as you're safe. I never trusted him," she muttered; you could tell there was a deadly venom lacing her words when she spoke of Drake. She tried not to make her wrath so obvious for your sake.
"You don't trust anybody."
"That's the point," she replied semi-lightheartedly.
"Mom. You're weird."
"I know. But I also know that nobody's good enough for you. Unless we both approve then, yeah. But nobody is awesome up to your level. Okay?"
"Okay mom." You sniffled and wiped your tears on her shoulder.
"You want some (fav food)?" She pulled back from the hug and looked at your face, wanting too help you settle down from the night.
"Of course."
