I had been living with a secret, one that could potentially ruin everything I knew, one that could potentially ruin my relationship with Luke. We were young, barely into our twenties. Yes, we had been dating for roughly 2 years, but we were nowhere near ready for what secret I had yet to unveil.

"Luke?" My voice carried into the bedroom before my body did.

"I'm in here, babe," he called back. Wandering into the room, I saw him lying on our king-sized bed, still shirtless and clad only in grey sweatpants. Sunday morning sunlight seeped in through the windows, shining over him angelically.

I crawled up towards him from the foot of the bed, sitting on my heels in between his legs.

"What's up?" he asked, sitting up slightly so he was face to face with me.

I grabbed his hands and gave a hard squeeze. "I have some news..."

He didn't respond, allowing me the silence to prepare what I was about to say.

"I'm not entirely sure how you are going to react, and I really hope we can get through this... But, I'm pregnant."

The silence that followed my words were not comforting, and the longer that nothing was said, the more my anxiety grew.

"Luke?" I asked quietly, meeting his eyes.

"I, uh, wow... W-When did you-"

"Last week," I answered. "I found out at my doctor appointment by mistake, actually. I've been working up the courage to tell you."

"Um, I'm sorry, I'm just... shocked. I thought we were careful, I mean, we always used protection..."

I dipped my head down, "Actually, there was one time we didn't... About a month ago, I remember we were both pretty hammered, we had been drinking all night long, and we came back here and I don't think we used anything."

He laughed a little, "I remember that, now that you mention it. We kinda freaked out the next morning. Haven't thought about that since... We had a lot of fun that night."

I smiled weakly, "Baby, what are you thinking? You haven't really said how you feel..."

He nodded, "Yeah, I mean, to be completely honest I'm freaked out, and nervous, and scared. But I'm also happy about it? I don't really know how to describe that."

I let out a sigh of relief, "I feel the same way. I'm excited, I mean I know I want a family with you, I just didn't think so soon. And I thought we would be married first."

He laughed, "Yeah, that sounds about right."

He paused, studying my face for a short moment. His hands left mine and they wrapped around my back, pulling me into his body in a swift motion. I giggled as we crashed into our bed, arms wrapped around each other, and my head resting on his shoulder.

"I love you," he whispered. "This is... terrifying, to say the least, but we're gonna do this together."

"I love you," I whispered back, pressing a kiss to his jaw. "You're gonna be a dad."

"Wow," he breathed. "That'll take some getting used to." He let out a quick laugh before pressing a kiss to the top of my head. "We can do this."
