Heyo quick rant; your OCs can have family outside of the main group.

Like, it doesn't have to be Barry's twin or younger sister, or Cisco's sibling, or Caitlin's cousin, or Ralph's second half-cousin twice removed, I swear they don't need some odd family connection to be tied to the plot.

Family humanizes them.

And sure if you're going down the sibling route, that's fine, but please make it consistent.

Take Bellamy Blake for example. Most of the bad, reckless decisions he makes are for his sister and how much he loves her — if that's the relationship OC NAME and FLASH CHARACTER NAME have, then keep it that way. Make your character make stupid decisions because they love their sibling.

Or; even better, make a character with Original Family. In my book, Young, Everett has a whole family not at all tied to the main plot and though he doesn't show it, that's part of him.

And speaking of such, not all of their family needs to be dead. Have your character ring up their mum every once and awhile to catch up with her. Have them have a competitive relationship with their cousins or younger siblings or something. The family doesn't need to be dead for a tragic backstory
