The Offer & New Friend

A/N: Set during Volume 2, with Pyrrha's fight against Team CDNL, where Jaune gets the offer.

Jaune sat with the rest of the students of Beacon watching his partner, Pyrrha Nikos, fight a entire team on her own. He sighed to himself as he saw his partner work so efficiently and easily take on all of Team CDNL with minimal effort. It made him feel so guilty for himself since compared to her, he was like a child waving his toy sword around for fun. She trained her whole life to become a warrior, while he just faked his way into the school, no Aura or real training.

Everyone in the school had poured their blood, sweat, and tears into their training while he lied his way right in. He didn't deserve to be there, he knew that, he was always told that, yet he still got in, the guilt eating him alive. 'Why the Hell did I do this, I'm lying to everyone, especially my own partner, who's suppose to trust me with her life like I hers. Why stay here if all this'll do is prove me a fraud and possibly get me killed?', Jaune questioned to himself.

BANG!

"WINNER, PYRRHA NIKOS!",

Jaune was so distracted with his inner thoughts that he didn't notice that Pyrrha had finished the fight. The audience clapped and cheered for her victory, with himself giving off claps and a small smile, his own thoughts affecting him. "That was a glorious battle, she truly is a champion, unlike her partner", Weiss said, the last part an insult to the Arc. Jaune just frowned hearing that, 'Of course I am, what good am I here?', he thought to himself.

"Hey, don't be rude Weiss", Ruby said in defense of the Arc, "Oh stop is Ruby, we all know that he has a long way to go if he even wants to challenge the rest of us. He's weak and untrained", Weiss said with a snide voice. Jaune just slouched in his seat, Ren and Nora patting his back, "What incredible idiot thought it was a good idea to put him here? And even more so to pair him up with such a warrior like Pyrrha when there are hundreds, if not thousands of better options!", the heiress continued to rant.

"Unless you forgot, WEISS, she chose me, not the super fan who only wanted her fame, her title, not the person underneath all of that", Jaune said with a stern glare, shocking a few. Weiss was surprised to hear Jaune not call her 'Snow-Angel', and that he talked back to her with so much anger. "W-why I never!", Weiss started, "That's right, you never tried learning about her behind the accomplishments, all you cared for was the bragging right. Like how mad you were not to get what you want, like a spoiled brat who was never told no before.

You didn't get Pyrrha as a partner, you pick on me. You didn't get to be team leader, you constantly insulted Ruby, like someone who's clearly jealous", Jaune said with a deep glare. This conversation had caught the surprised attention of others like the rest of Team RWBY, Ren and Nora, and Pyrrha. Said champion stared at Jaune with a smile on her face, glad to know that he cared so much for her, and that he listened to her. Weiss tried and tried to say something against Jaune's words, but couldn't, his words were solid and were the truth.

"So, unless you have something to defend yourself of what I had just told you, don't bother trying to talk to me. I'm going somewhere quiet to think", Jaune said as he stood up and left the stands and then stadium, everyone's gazes following. Glynda was speechless at how much confidence Jaune's words held, but she pushed that away since she knew that he was far behind the rest of his peers. 'He may have great tactician skills, but he is nowhere near everyone else's strength', she told herself with a stone face.

With Jaune:

"Oum above, why am I so weak?", the young asked himself as he walked through the Emerald Forest in his regular armor and weapons. He may have spoken his mind at Weiss, there was still so much he has yet revealed, like how he forged his transcripts. It was really the only way he can really become a Hunter, someone who protects people, that's all he wants to do.
