Chapter 4

We started a fire and settled down, all was quiet till Evy asked, "What do you suppose killed him?" Jonathan decided to be funny and said, "Did you ever see him eat." Rick then joined us and said, "Are American friends had a bit of misfortune their own today. Three of their diggers were uh...melted." I rose a brow as I brushed Asim coat and said, "How?" he looked into the fire and said, "Salt acid." I wince feeling sorry for those men as Rick continued, "Pressurized salt acid some kind of ancient boobytrap." I sighed as I finished brushing Asim and sat with the others taking out the daggers I got and started to polish and sharpen them.

Jonathan then said, "Maybe this place is cursed." just then the wind blew almost taking out the fire, Rick, Jonathan, and I looked at our surroundings as Evy said, "Oh for goodness sake you three." Rick then asked Evy, "You don't believe in curses do you." I sighed and said, "Sadly she doesn't" Evy then said, "I believe that if I can see it and I can touch it, it is real that is what I believe." I sighed and felt the energy change as I put my daggers back and got out my gun as Rick said, "I believe in being prepared." Jonathan said, "Let's see what are friend warden believed in." and started to go through the man bag.

After rummaging around for a few seconds he yelled and pulled his hand out of the bag scaring Evy and surprising rick and me. Evy then asked, "What! What is it!?" Jonathan looked back in the bag and said, "A broken bottle." he took it out and started to read it, "And Lived, 12 years old!? Well he may have been a stinky fellow but he sure had good taste." he then took a drink from the bottle. Evy giggled as Rick and I turned our head to the other camp site hearing the horses neigh.

I stood up as Asim started to trot to the other camp site as I held my gun close to me next thing I know gunshots were being exchanged. I got on top Asim and rode him to shelter and got off him and said, "Stay here Asim." I then heard Jonathan scream, "O'Connall! Lilly!" I looked to see Jonathan being chased by a man in black on a horse, I then stood in front of the horse holding my hand out as it stopped and Rick tackled the man off the horse, I then moved to Rick side as he shot the man sword out of his hands, he then turned to shot another man.

The man he knocked off then pulled out his second sword, I dropped my gun and took out my daggers and blocked him. We pushed each other away and just as Rick turned to shot him, he knocked rick gun out of his hand, just as he was about to strike Rick I blocked him once again, we then started to fight and in a way it seemed like we were dancing, then we stopped as Rick held a dynamite stick.

The man looked at Rick seeing the serious expression and said, "Enough! Allaha!(is that how its spelled?) We shed no more blood. But you must leave, leave this place or die." he then got back on his horse and left along with his men. I watched as him and his men left Asim standing next to me, I then got on top of him and said to Rick, "I'll be back I need to check something out, keep an eye out on my sister please." I then rode after them, making sure that they would notice me. Soon they stopped and I saw the man before standing next to his horse looking at me, I got off Asim and walked towards him staying a few feet away from him, he then asked, "Why have you followed me, alone no less woman." I walked towards him and watched as he grabbed the hilt of his sword.

I then stood stabbing distance and said, "I just want to know who you are and why you attacked us." he looked surprised for a second and said, "My name is Ardeth Bay, we are the Medji. We have been protecting Hamunaptra for thousands of years to protect the world from the beast Imhotep from resurrecting and unleashing a unholy plague." I sighed and said, "You know you could have told us instead of killing us all right? Then again they probably wouldn't listen." Ardeth gave me a look of bewilderment as I tilted my head and said, "What?"

Ardeth p.o.v

I stared at this girl, she is not like any woman I have ever met. She came following us by herself with only two daggers and a sword. I looked at her and said, "Nothing I say will make you leave this place." she smiled and walked back to her horse getting on it and said, "Nope but I'll try to keep this meeting between us and help keep your mission, until our paths meet again Ardeth Bay and hopefully on better terms." she then grabbed onto the mane and kick the sides and said, "Asim walk on." the horse then turned and took off running to that dreaded city.

One of my men then said, "Are you sure it was a good idea to let that woman go back there." I sighed and said, "Honestly no but something tells me it's better if she's there." we started to make our way to camp all the while my head kept wondering back to that girl.

Lilly p.o.v

I walked to camp to see Rick and Evy still up, Rick trying to teach my sister to punch while she was drunk. I laughed and settled Asim down to rest, as I was about to walk away Asim tugs the bottom of my dress and neighs. I giggled and lay against his stomach as he pulls the blanket off himself and gives it to me, I smiled and said, "Thank you Asim, goodnight." soon I fell asleep.
