letters to a nonexistent mailbox

the thing about online friends is that

one day they can leave

and disappear from your life as quickly as

closing a tab

refreshing a page

deleting a file

leaving me pondering if

i'll ever see you in real life

and

if i'd even know it when i do

but mostly

if i ever truly knew you

maybe if i did 

you wouldn't have left without looking back
