despite myself,
i thought of him
radiant
the embodiment of the sun
when he smiled
it was a smile that said the world hadn't broken him like it had done to me
i would have smiled back
had mine not been so tarnished
from its beatings over the years
maybe i wouldn't have fallen
so damn hard
if it wasn't for his sunlight smile
