ok, so pretend they haven't said I love you yet and then read this, or else this won't be as cute lmao

"El, let's go!" Mike said, tugging El out of her own front door. El turned around and locked it using her powers.

"Ok, Ok!" El giggled, sliding into the passenger seat of her car.

"Thanks, Wheeler," Hopper said, shaking his head at El.

"Sorry!" El giggled, looking back at Mike. Hopper drove them to the entrance and waited until El got out before locking the doors.

"Be careful with her," He said.

"Yes, sir," Mike said, nodding. He swallowed uncomfortably.

"Don't lose her. She will run off and become completely lost."

"Yes, sir."

"Come on the kid, don't call me sir. Have a good time," Hopper said, unlocking the doors.

"Yes si- I mean, yes Hopper," Mike said, getting out of the car, "Thanks for the ride!"

Hopper nodded and drove off, leaving Mike and El at the entrance.

"Wow!" El said, staring at all the bright lights.

"Let's go," Mike said, taking her hand and leading her through the ticket line and into the fairgrounds. El stood amazed, looking at all the games and rides and lights. She stared at the Ferris wheel.

"Let's do that!" El said, pointing at the wheel. It was lit up in red white and blue, perfect since fourth of July was tomorrow.

"Last."

"Why?" El asked, pouting.

"Because that's when it's the best," Mike laughed. El shrugged and practically ran towards a ring toss station.

"That is the cutest thing I have ever seen!" El squealed, pointing to a toy panda bear. The panda bear had a light blue bow tie and was a medium size.

"Wanna try and win it?" Mike asked, digging into his pockets.

"Can't we just buy it?"

"Wheres the fun in that?"

"Where is the fun in not just buying it?" El giggled. Mike shoved some loose change over the counter and the worker handed them back some rings.

"Ladies first," Mike said, bowing down to El. She winked at him, a new skill, and began to chuck the rings. They flew past the bottles and straight to the back of the booth, but Mike couldn't help but stare at El.

Her hair blew behind her face in the summer wind, the sunset painting her face orange and pink. Her freckles were starting to show across her face, creating a mini galaxy much like his own. He watched as she slowed her pace, her brows furrowing as she threw the rings too softly now. He couldn't help but smile, falling in love all over again.

Mike had always known that he was in love with El, but they never said it. He always felt it, every time she walked in a room his soul would fill to the brim with warmth, but he was always too scared to put it into words. What if she didn't feel the same?

Mike was broken from his trance when El began pulling at the rings he was holding onto.

"Can I use these?" She asked, her eyes twinkling under the carnival lights.
