Sometimes
There are just things
That words cannot say.
How does one put into words
The pain
Of rejection and heartbreak?
How can tears and hurting speak
When words cannot say
What I long to utter?
You can't just act
Like it was nothing.
Like it was all a pretense,
Like it was meaningless.
You can't just destroy
A relationship
Like you don't care,
Because then you'd be a liar
And a traitor.
Maybe it didn't to you,
But it did matter to me;
And words fail me
To get it out,
Because there are things
That words cannot say.
You always said
You'd be there for me,
That you'd be an ear to vent on,
A shoulder to cry on,
But now
I have to cry and vent
Alone
Because you gave up.
I wish I could speak it,
But there are things
That words cannot say.
Some people say
That music bridges
The gaps of silent words,
But all songs fail me now
Because there are things
That words cannot say.
I wish I had a pen
Or poet's tongue
Or a song by which to put
Thoughts and feelings into words,
But there are things
That words cannot say.
I'm bleeding, but silent;
A wordless throbbing;
Because there are things
That words can never say.
