Will you come with me
To the wishing well
Will you stand
With a penny in your hand
Will you wish for days
That are stolen away
Or will you simply
Throw yourself in
Will the false gilding of nostalgia
Blind your eyes to what lies ahead
Or will you let out a sigh
Leave without a goodbye
To the past that's now forever dead
Will you come with me
To the River of Lethe
Will you stand
At the edge and look in
Will you drink to the dregs
Lose the thoughts in your head
Or will you cling
To fond memories
Will the past hold you captive
Keep you back from destiny
Or will you forget all you knew
Choose a path that's new
And walk free from forgotten memories
Will you come with me
To the ocean of Time
Will you stand
At the edge and peer across
Will you set out to sea
Embark and be free
Or will you stay
Forever waiting on the shore
Will your fears of the future
Hold you back from something new
Or will you take in a breath
Forge a new life ahead
Different from the other life you knew
Will you come with me
To the wishing well
Will you stand
With a penny in your hand
Will you wish for days
Long faded away
Or will you wish
For a life that's different
Will your fears of the future
Keep you tethered to the past
Or will you reach out and try
Risk the present with a sigh
And pursue a worth-filled life that lasts
Yes, I've been finding my way back and writing/finishing a lot of poems, many of which have lain abandoned, waiting for me to pick them up again. I hope you enjoyed this one; it does have a tune and I may record it some day, but for now, here it is to read. <3
