Loving her was easier than a Kristofferson tune

Katya woke up in a dark room. Everything around her that had previously decorated her bedroom was gone. It had vanished. She woke up alone on a bed that wasn't her own.

Trixie was nowhere to be found. Katya felt her breathing become heavier as anxiety flowed through her bloodstream. She looked everywhere, but the room was so dark, she wasn't sure if she'd be able to see Trixie if the girl was right in front of her.

"Trixie?" Katya called out, meekly. She had always been just a little be afraid of the dark. "Trix, are you here?"

Katya was greeted with the cold response of silence. She watched as omething shifted in the dark, and she became frozen in fear as she heard a laugh. It wasn't Trixie's soft, sunshine laugh. It was dark and cold and evil; so very far from the girl she had fallen asleep next to.

"Oh, Katya," the voice said, infinitely close to her ear. She could smell the putrid breath coming from whoever is talking to her. It sounded like it was coming from her own head, but she could feel presence beside her. "She's gone."

"W-what?" Katya choked out, feeling a sob begin to shake her to her core. Her head spun and her heart ached, though she was not sure why. She just met Trixie- barely knew her- but, still, she cared about her so much. She loved her.

"I took her away from here, to a better place," she voice snarled. It was unrecognizable as Katya tried to match it to someone she knows. Her head pounded and her chest was heavy as she felt herself being suffocated by the presence.

"Give her back!" Katya screamed, her throat tearing as the final word escaped her lips. Suddenly, her surroundings change. She was in a field, surrounded by pink and yellow flowers. She could see Trixie, she thought, but she was so far away that she couldn't be sure. "Trixie!" She screamed again, though no noise escaped her lips. Come to think of it, she couldn't hear anything at all. All she could do was see. She couldn't move, couldn't speak, couldn't breathe.

She watched as the body of the girl, presumably Trixie, fell to the ground into the tall grass and flowers. She was completely capsized by the wildlife. Suddenly, the world begun to turn a deep red. Everything from where Trixie fell begins to rapidly turn a deep, dark red that is so pigmented that Katya's eyes felt stuck on it as it rushed toward her like a tsunami. A tsunami of red from the girl she loved.

Then Katya woke up, gasping for air. Again, she was in a dark room, but she could see the outlines of her furniture and her posters hanging on the wall. She went to sit up, but was held down by a weight. Sleeping Trixie was sprawled across her chest.

Trixie woke up at the sudden movement, feeling her own heart rate increase as she heard Katya's anxious, gasping breaths. She held Katya tightly in her arms, whispering sweet nothings. It's okay, I'm here, you're okay, you're safe, it was just a dream...

"I'm so glad you're here," Katya said. Her heart was pounding and she could feel a light sheen of sweat coating her body.

"Where else would I be?" Trixie whispered, not wanting to wake up much more than she already had. She wanted Katya to be okay and calm before she would let herself go back under, though.

"I love you," Katya whispered, her world beginning to slow back to a normal pace. "I love you so fucking much."

Trixie smiled hugely at the words of the girl beside her. "I love you, too," she whispered, knowing that, even though she was awake, Katya was a dream that Trixie was lucky enough to have stumbled into.

They fell back asleep for a few hours before an alarm pulled them from their calm dreams. It was Monday, after all, and that meant school. Which meant Violet.
