Hey! So glad to know that someone reads the bullshit I put up on this site :,)
Anyway, welcome to Complicated! This is an Alpha/Beta/Omega Dynamic fic, and if that isn't your cup of tea then turn away whilst you still can. This fic also takes place 3 years after cannon season 8. Allura has passed, and Voltron is no longer of need. Everything that occurred in Season 8 (despite how rushed it had been) is canon in this fanfiction. Otherwise, I'm pulling everything else out of my ass here.
As a warning, this story may contain:
-Sexual Content
-Heavy Angst
-A depiction of Mental Illness
-Possible Suicide attempt, or even the mention of it
-Implications of abuse
-Self Harm
-Sexual Assault
This is all later on, but I'd like to make it clear that some of these topics may be brushed on and briefly discussed, or even graphic scenes of others. I will, of course, include warnings at the beginning of the chapter in which the topic comes into play.
As for what role everyone plays in the Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamic, they each have reasoning behind it. Skip over it if you're not interested, their role is in italics after their name.
(Will be updated as more characters come into the story)
Lance: Alpha
I see Lance as an Alpha because I believe it would add to his insecurities and make the storyline more interesting. He looks nothing like an Alpha, and for what he thinks to be a Stunted Alpha always surpassing him would make him feel even more insecure and try to really gain that respect most Alphas are already given. He also has the drive to comfort and protect, leaning more on the Alpha side.
Hunk: Beta
Hunk's smarts and kindness just seems to say Beta to me. He doesn't exactly fit into Omega or Alpha to me, so I chose to put him in between. He's the glue of everything, keeping most everyone balanced alongside Shiro.
Pidge: Alpha
Alpha is usually portrayed to be big and strong, lifting with ease. Why not add some brains to it? Pidge would be less insecure about their role, rather they'd embrace it and show what an alpha can be and that it's not always about the physical strengths you may have.
Shiro: Beta
Most fanfictions have Shiro as an Alpha, but I just don't see it that way. He isn't pushed to get things done because of his emotions, rather everyone else's emotions. I nearly made him a Stunted Alpha, but it just wouldn't make sense to me. He's the pack leader and tries to keep them safe above all else, his own emotions put to the side, unlike Omega/Alphas.
Keith: Omega
I have Keith set as an omega not just because "oooh bottom Keith" and shit like that. Keith just fits into the role and would bring up why he'd be so afraid of abandonment and could add to why he worked so hard. He easily lost control of his temper because omegas are more emotion-based, thus adding to his impulsive nature and his drive to prove himself due to being looked down upon by many when he was growing up.
Allura: (Formerly) Beta
I'm not going to give much reason for Allura, seeing as how she'd only be mentioned in the story from time to time. I just see her as calmer in most situations, but I did almost make her an omega because she's so driven by emotion.
Coran: Beta
A man with such a gorgeous mustache needs no explanation behind his strengths.
Romelle: Stunted Omega
If you don't know what a stunted omega/alpha is, they are the in-between of beta and alpha/omega. Romelle, in this case, is the in-between of omega/beta. She's better collected and caring, and not as emotionally driven as a full omega would be. She craves family and something that she can connect herself to, but she doesn't want offspring or a significant other. Heats for stunted omega only last 3-4 days opposed to the full week normal omegas have.
Veronica: Alpha
I feel like Veronica is very driven to protect and take command. She's the first to leap into a new challenge and especially when saving trusted teammates or really anyone in general. She was the first to rise up to her family and keep them optimistic when Lance disappeared, despite being the second oldest. She was what kept and still keeps most everyone in check, being the second most dominant Alpha in the house ( Her mother is the first ).
Rachel: Omega
We don't get to see much of Rachel in the show, let alone see her speak. I'm purely going off the headcanon that she's Lance's twin, except she excelled more in math and writing and instead has a career in that. I'm really only making her an omega to have someone be there and be able to bond with Keith.
Axca: Beta
Axca is very driven to succeed and prove her worth because of her unpopular second sex. She strives to prove that she is just as strong as any Alpha, much like Lance. In the story, she is referenced back to being very sisterly to Keith. They have a strong bond now that she works for the BOM (On pause in the time she comes into play, she instead goes to college to enjoy more humanly customs and understand better). Axca trains hard and won't let someone take care of her--unless that person is Veronica, of course. She feels safe to be herself with Veronica and Keith but is cold to others.
Matt: Beta
I feel as though Matt wouldn't fit into either Alpha or Omega, seeing as how he doesn't seem to be deathly driven to family or protection. It's a balance of the two, rather. He is also heavily focused on his work, and I don't think that fits into what I define Alpha/Omega as.
