Abby opened her eyes and saw everyone around her. Her head was pounding and she was disorieted. "Where's Chris?" She sat up, but then layed back on her bed.

"Honey, what happened?" Her mother had a stern look on her face.

"Nothing. I just fell."

"Abby, you need to tell the truth. Don't lie."

"He just got upset. Everything's ok, mom. I promise."

"Abby, no it's not. We found you lying on the floor and Chris standing over you. Tell us what happened."

"I did. I just made him upset that's all."

"Why are you protecting him?" Shelbie asked.

"I need to get some sleep."

"Abby. we need to talk about this." Her mother wasn't gonna let this go.

"I'm done talking about this. I love Chris and he loves me. He didn't mean to hurt me."

"Then why did he hurt you?"

"I'm going to bed. Good night." She rolled over and ignored them, until they left.

She stayed in her room all weekend. Breakfast and dinner time was awkward and strained. She didn't speak to anyone and they didnt speak to her. She would eat, then go back upstairs.to her room. She ignored her phone and eventually had to turn it off because it wouldn't stop going off. She wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.

"Hello."

"Hi, is this Christy?"

"Um, yes this is."

"My name is Abby. I got your name from someone. I wanna know about Chris Walker."

There was a silence on the phone and Abby was afraid that she had hung up. "C-chris Walker?"

"Yeah. I got your number from one of his friends. Chris wont tell me anything about his past. I was hoping you could tell me. I'm his girlfriend."

"Does he.. does he hit you?" She whispered the last two words.

"Yes, he does. But he didn't do that when we first got together."

"He wasn't like that when we first got together either."

"Could you please tell me about your relationship?"

"Chris and me began dating when I was a freshmen. I was shy and I didn't have many friends, which is why he probably chose me. When he first asked me I said no; I wasn't ready for a relationship and my friends said there was something off about him, so I told him no. But he kept trying to take me out on a date. He used to buy me flowers, teddybears, cards and poems and leave them in my locker or send them to my house. Finally, when he asked me for the sixth time I said yes. The date was amazing. He took me to this really nice restaurant, where he made me laugh and blush so much. Then he took me to the beach and he dropped me off at my house right on time. After that night I couldn't get enough of him; He was all I thought about. We went on a couple more dates before he asked me to be his girlfriend and of course I said yes. In the beginning of the relationship everything was perfect. He was so nice and we would go out all the time. He would even do family outings with my family. Then about two months into our relationships he started hitting me. At first it wasn't very hard, but then he got more abusive. After he punched me in the face one night and left me with a black eye, he started only hitting me in places that weren't noticable. He would hurt me so bad that I wouldn't be able to move the next day. I knew what he was doing was wrong, but I loved him so much that I just couldn't leave him and I was afraid that if I left him that he would hurt me way worse that he had before, so I never did. We  were together for two years, and he was beating me almost everyday. One night he got really mad and he beat me so bad that he put me in a coma. I was in the coma for two weeks. When I woke up my parents and friends asked me what happened and I told them how Chris had been beating me for the past two years. With their help, I left him and I pressed charges agaisnt him. Right after the court date he moved away and we never knew what happened to him. I was just glad he would never hurt me again, but I see he found a new girl to hurt. I am so sorry Abby."
