I ran as fast as I could. With the injuries the others and I had we couldn't keep it up any longer.
"Alina!" my close friend Xavier yelled. I looked back.
"Rina's losing power and strength!" He said.
That smile that Rina always had plastered on her face was now gone and replaced with the face of dread. The light that was once in her eyes was now gone. It was like she was dying. We couldn't tell for sure.
"We have to keep going, and get her out of here," I replied. We kept running. I looked back again and saw that Xavier was still holding Rina close and was still running, but he was slowing down. I motioned for him to hurry. As I kept running I bumped into Kayia. She was standing still in place. I saw that Rian stopped running too.
"Why'd you two stop, we have to keep going," I said with concern in my voice.
"We can't," Rian replied.
"Why?" I panted.
"Look," he simply said.
I turned around and saw what was in front of us. It was a whole group of guards. They were blocking the door that we needed to escape from.
"Turn around and RUN!" I yelled. We started running back the other way when 15 more guards stepped into view.
"We're trapped," Kayia croaked.
"What are we going to do now?" Xavier whispered.
"We fight, with the very little power we have left," I worried. As soon as I said that, the guards from both sides started coming for us.
Now everyone were fighting all except for Rina. Kayia was making mini tornados out of here hands and shooting them at some guards. Rian was creating icicles and shaping them into long, sharp cones and sending them flying right through the guards hearts. Xavier broke down pieces of the walls that were made from stone then throwing them at the guards farther away and I was creating fireballs and shooting them everywhere but making sure they didn't hit my friends. We continued, but it felt like there were always more coming. We were to busy fighting and didn't notice Rina starting to stand up.
"Move," she yelled.
"What?" Xavier replied while also shooting stones at the guards.
"I said move, I am going to use the last of my power to get us out of here," Rina answered.
"Rina, you can't do that!" I yelled.
"I can and I will now MOVE!" she snapped. When she wants something she'll make sure she gets it. We hesitantly moved out of here way. Rina closed her eyes and lifted up into the air and a yellow faint light started to illuminate around her. She lifted her arms and moved them in a circle. She then opened her eyes to reveal them glowing yellow. She just hung there for a minute, then her arms flung out and a powerful burst of energy and light came from her. We all were knocked with the energy that came from her. My vision started to blur. My ears were ringing. My head was pounding. I looked around and spotted all the others gathered around a body. I struggled to get up but once I did I wandered over there. Then stopped dead in my tracks. The body they were all surrounding..it was Rina's. She laid there looking lifeless. Her body was pale. It was like the color from her body was completely drained. Her chest moving up and down to show us that she was breathing was barely moving.
"Rina?" I denied. She faintly opened her eyes. They were still the prettiest blue I've ever seen.
"A torch has to go out sometime," Rina whispered. She started to close her eyes for the final time.
"DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE ME! Not now," Xavier shouted. "Please..don't go," he barely said above a whisper. His tears started to fall as she whispered to him, "I love you,"
That was it. Her last words. She's gone. Xavier then burst into tears holding her lifeless body, rocking back and forth whispering "please" over and over again, hoping those would be the words to bring her back to life. The rest of us stared in disbelief. This couldn't be happening. She can't be gone. Tears threatened to spill. I covered my mouth and whimpered.
"Lange hält das Licht," Kayia whispered. "Lange hält das Licht,"
