( plot summary )
joanne moore, by no fault other than her own, was a woman who refused to rely on any other person. her heart had been closed off to the notion of love, and tall, almost impenetrable walls in an attempt to fend off anyone who tries to get close. she'd much rather to live in seclusion for the remainder of her life, with one night stands as the way to feel her needs in the meantime.

however, when a overly persistent guitarist just so happens to move into the flat beside joanne, her self inflicted isolation quickly comes crashing down, and in the end, she finds herself within the arms of someone she could have never anticipated.

— joanne, in the times that had come to past, had found herself hurt and betrayed by those she had trusted the most, which is what pushed her over the edge and made her shut everyone and anyone out. however, she does act as though this was simply just her choice, and the decision wasn't caused by heartbreak

— when brian moves next door to joanne, he keeps seeing her in the hallways, and he will try to talk to her. at first she is simply polite to him, but tries to get out of the situation quickly. however, as this continues and he tries to befriend her, she begins getting more annoyed at his antics
— joanne has a rule that she doesn't hook up with anyone that lives close by to her, as it can lead to awkward situations if they see one another. thus, she doesn't try to hook up with brian.
— getting tired of brian's attempts to get close to her, she finally accepts his request to have tea with him in hopes that it'd finally get him to stop asking. but in the end, she enjoys the time, even if it is just slightly.
