Every Day is Special

17 1 1

An idea that started somewhere and ended up somewhere else entirely.
{header image is how the sky outside my
window greeted me in the New Year}

Days flit by like butterflies
Fluttering into memory
Turning into weeks, then months,
Soon a year is gone, you see.

Slowly, as I grow,
I have come to realise-
Everything is so temporal,
Just illusions in our eyes.

Today may be
The best day of my life.
But for someone, somewhere,
Today is full of strife.

While a family may cheer
As their daughter is born,
Another feels the sorrow
Of the death of a son.

Someone may awaken,
To laughter and song,
Another struggles to find
A reason to live on.

But every day is a special day,
Because every new day shows-
The Sun won't give up rising
To conquer the shadows.

The clouds won't stop
Their displays that awe
The birds will never miss
Watching the grey dawn.

The day may dawn beautiful,
The day may dawn glum;
Heralding new opportunities,
Or boring return to humdrum.

Whatever the case, I think,
It is in our hands entirely.
We must count our blessings,
And fight through adversity.

Don't worry, be happy,
If you worry, you suffer twice.
Everything that happens
Is a blessing in disguise.

Always remember, however low
Your spirits may seem to be,
The universe conspires
To make you happy.

For you the Sun rises,
In gorgeous grandeur;
For you the flowers bloom,
For you the leaves flutter.

For you the Moon shines hope
With fingers of silver,
For you the seas roar,
And in the sunlight glitter.

So never for a second doubt,
Every day is a special day.
Every day is a fresh start,
A chance to forge your own way.
