CALLIE'S POV

I fiddled with my fingers before finally knocking on the large, white door.

The door opened slowly to reveal an elderly man. "Oh my, how much you've grown!" He said shocked.

"Robert? It's been so long!" I said in awe before engulfing my childhood friend and butler in a hug.

"Come in, I'll take your bag." He smiled.

"It's okay, it's not heavy." I entered my parent's large mansion. "I didn't know you still worked here."

"Well, there's not much to do since your parents are never here. I get payed for doing nothing." I laughed and he gave me a playful wink.

        "Speaking of, where are they?"

"At the country club. They should arrive in about 2 hours." He said, while we walked into the kitchen. "Tea?" I nodded.

"So much for urgent," I placed my bag down on the counter. "They made me fly out here to Nevada yesterday afternoon, saying that it was urgent. To make matters worse, the flight was delayed." I rolled my eyes.

"The flight must have been long from New York. You should sleep." He handed me the cup of tea.

"Maybe after I finish this." I said. "How's life going for you?" I asked.

"Great! I have four grandchildren now and I'm happily breathing." He smiled. "I'm going to retire soon, too."

"Good, you're too old to be working with people like my parents." I chuckled.

"Now, tell me how things are going for you back in New York."

"Well I work as a veterinarian. My coworker is also a good friend of mine." I told him. "I also have a boyfriend. According to some people, not for long, I guess." I sucked in a breath.

"What do you mean?" Robert questioned.

"Its a long story. Happened yesterday actually."

"I wont intrude, but I hope you resolve whatever it is." He gave me a quick hug. I mumbled a quiet thank you.

"I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be right back." I told him, getting up.

Walking back into the kitchen, I saw that Robert was no longer there. I called out for him, but I didn't hear a response.

'Must have gone upstairs for a moment.'  I thought.

I decided to pour myself another cup of tea, when my phone started to ring. I thought I turned it off.
