I strolled through the streets, dazed. My best friend, Felix to my right. His smile never faltering, even as he tripped over a pothole that I didn’t even see.

I laughed at him. I laughed at my shadow. At this point, I laughed at basically everything.

“Jiminie~~” He spoke slurred words, “Jiminie pabo...”

“Yah! Don’t call me pabo!” My tongue felt heavy in my mouth. “What do you want?”

“I think this is my house,” he said, stopping in front of his blue building. I sighed, this meaning he would have to leave me.

“Okay, bye Felixie...” I smiled, and he smiled back. I waited there, making sure that he was inside the house before I continued my walk. I didn’t know where I was going, but I just walked.

My mom had kicked him and I out for the night because we drank all of her liquor. I was 17 and he is 18. He lives by himself and I have to live with my mother.

I reached inside my pants pocket and pulled out my pack of cigarettes, I shook it and opened it. I saw my lighter inside of it, but no cigarettes.

I scoffed and threw the empty pack down on the ground, making sure to retrieve my lighter first. I stuffed my hands inside my pockets and walked, my buzz wearing off after a while of walking without the happiness of Tae around me.

I don’t know how long I had been walking, but with my buzz worn off and my high coming down, I stumbled into a convenience store. I look around the store for a bit, grabbing a pack of Combos and going up to the counter.

“Pack of camel lights, 99s,” I said to the cashier. A guy dressed in all black comes into the store. He is wearing a black beanie with little metal hooks in them and his silver-blonde hair looks soft.

“There is no way you’re old enough, kid.”

How dare he call me a kid! I’ll be 18 in 3 weeks! “I swear to God himself I am old enough, sir!”

I blatantly lied to him while shouting. I even managed to attract the guy who had his head down the whole time while searching for ramen.

“I will not sell cigarettes to a minor.” The man said, crossing his arms.

The blonde beanie guy came to my side after finding some ramen and other food items. He looked up at the old man with cold eyes, obviously impatient.

“You, know me, Mr. Won.” He said, his voice deep and raspy. Honestly, it was hot; he was hot. His hair perfectly came out of the beanie, hooding his eyes nicely, making him look mysterious.

“Camel lights, 99s. And check out my shit too while you’re at it.”

“You don’t smoke, I know that. You’re going to give it to him.” The old man jabbed a shaky finger at me.

“You’re wrong there, buddy. I smoke different cigarettes, though. Get me a pack of camel lights 99s and a pack of Marlboro 100s, now.” Damn this dude was demanding. He could command me any day, honestly...

“Fine, kids these days...” The old man began rambling as he finished checking the boy out. I never noticed it, but the boy put my Combos in his stuff as well.

He paid for everything and left me my Combos on the counter. I followed him outside and he tossed me my pack of cigarettes.

“See ya, kid.” He said and turned
