A Placeless Face

As darkness sings its silent song,

Caressing my heart with its icy palm,

My soul flutters, shudders,

        In its tomb of calm.

Awakened in the night,

        Full of fright,

With an image of a placeless face

                Left within my sight.

Yet my plight cannot be known,

        For this placeless face,

               Is none but my own.
