Israel was now in position to attack Lebanon in 1982 and occupy Beirut, kick PLO (Palestinian Liberation organisation) out, and slaughter and commit genocide crimes against Palestinians in Israeli camps (the massacre of Sabra and Shateela 17th September 1982).
The Sabra and Shatila massacre occurred between September 16-18 1982, saw the slaughter of nearly 3,500 Palestinian and Lebanese shiites. Hundreds of members of the Phalange party - a Lebanese fascist militia - along with the Israeli army, slaughtered Palestinians, mostly women, children and the elderly, in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camp located in Beirut. The massacre took place under the command of Ariel Sharon with active collaboration from the U.S.
