Prologue

Lane Thompson hasn't had an easy go at life. At the age of 7 her family realized what she was, what they had created. A hybrid. They resented her for it, to her parents Lane was some sort of abomination. To Lane her parents were strangers.
Once Lane had turned 10 her parents abandoned her. They had left her stranded in Mystic Falls, somewhere she had never been before. Lane survived for two years alone taking care of herself. No one is really sure how she did it, to be honest Lane isn't quite sure how she survived that long either. Lane was found by Alaric Saltzman. Some would say he was her saving grace.
Alaric brought Lane back to The Salvator School for the Young and Gifted, where through practice she would be taught how to handle her powers as a hybrid, although she hasn't quite gotten her powers under control just yet. Lane has tried as hard as she possibly could to keep her anger and grief at bay but sometimes it gets the best of her and the her inner beast comes out. All most everyone fears her when the "beast" side of her is shown. There were only four people who Lane felt would never truly judge her. Alaric, Lizzie Saltzman, Hope Mikaelson, and Josie Saltzman.
Lane trusted Alaric, he took care of her when no one else would. He was her guiding hand. He trained with Lane most days in hopes of helping her become the strong women he knows she can be. He believed in her and that's something she never had before.
Lizzie and Lane weren't necessarily best friends, but they had each other's back. Lane would find herself most times going to Lizzie for girl advice like relationships, drama, fashion, you name it. Fashion is one of the main things the two girls originally bonded over because while Lane was still a bad ass hybrid she liked to look good while doing her thing and Lizzie was always in full support of that.
Now Hope was Lane's best friend. Lane found herself most nights telling Hope everything about her day and how she was feeling. Which when they had first met was a bit strange but eventually the two realized just how much they had in common with one another and just how much they needed one another. Lane never had much of a family, but with Hope she had something, she had a sister. And for that she'd always be grateful.
Josie Saltzman was someone who she had been crushing on for forever. Josie made Lane feel a certain way that no one really had before. She made Lane feel special and important. Josie was the first person that Lane had met when coming to the Salvatore School, she stills remembers the bright and kind smile Josie had given her. Josie has given her that same smile when Lane had told her she was a hybrid, and again the same smile when Lane had told Josie she was bisexual. It was a smile that screamed acceptance. Something Josie had always given Lane. Acceptance.
However, many things have started happening at the school. Outbreaks of creatures Lane and the others had heard about in stories are now beginning to attack the school. Lane's life is about to change forever due to all these monsters. The only question is can she handle it or will the demons she been running from for so long finally catch up with.

So yeah sorry if this part is trash, kind of just a brief look into Lane's life before coming to the school. Once the story goes on I'll elaborate more on her life but like I said this is just a preview. I really hoped you enjoyed this chapter and please let me know what you think!!
