You Told me Once...

A/N: Inspiration from something by Xatherz, a chapter called Seasons from their book titled Lams Oneshots ❤. You should go read their stuff, it's awesome!

The funny thing about this is that the inspiration I was using was like the formatting and the speaking as if talking to Alex, I didn't even mean to use seasons, I kind of accidentally incorporated it lol. Anyway sorry for the long a/n, enjoy!

You told me once that love never dies, it is immortal.
On that hot summer day you told me I was perfect. You said you couldn't imagine life without me.
I didn't think, it simply felt right when my fingertips touched yours. Our hands somehow intertwined, and we kept walking like that, by the water's edge.

That night, in our dorm, you kissed me.
It felt like a million fireworks going off inside of me, my skin tingling and my thoughts falling to nothing.
I never wanted the feeling to end.

You told me once that the point of existence is to make sure you are never forgotten, if only to a few people.
I knew on that winter night I could never forget you. Not for a second.

The way your arms fit around my waist, the way you looked at me as if I was your entire universe. Your warmth, your comforting touch.
All was forever ingrained in my memory.

You told me once that your love for me could never be destroyed by anything.
I lived by that after the accident.
I lived by that when you woke up and they told me you couldn't remember your name, the year, your boyfriend's name.

The words repeated in my mind when I saw you for the first time and your eyes landed on me, dead and blind to emotion.
We had to start over again.

You told me once that you would choose me a million times over.
Piece by piece we collected ourselves.
I let you go.
I cried for nights on end.
But one gentle spring morning, you chose me again.
And for the first time, I wasn't dying in the midst of the growth anymore.

I could finally enjoy the blossoming flowers when they came from your hands, eyes sparkling with love anew.
You never gave anyone else your love, for even though your mind couldn't remember, your soul did.
You said several nights later that you had to come back.
That you couldn't remember me, but it felt wrong, impossible to be without me.

You told me once to believe in miracles, to believe in love, for in this world it is all we have.
I already did, because I believed in you.
When you remembered the special moments again. When you created new ones.
When, that new summer, by the water's edge again, you asked me to stay by your side forever.

How could I deny you? I had asked. You simply smiled.
We adopted.
We bought a house.
We argued, we loved.
We lived.
Together, you and I built something that could never be forgotten.

You told me once, in that quiet monotone room, to never forget you.
My darling, how could I?
You are my sun, my moon, my stars.
I will keep you in my heart and soul.

I will live on for you.
I will pass on every memory, I will carry your legacy.
Just like you always wanted.
I will live on for you.
And one day, I will meet you on the other side.
And I know.

We will choose each other forevermore.
