one time i was myself and
myself was looking for a place to be safe.
soon i found
i wanted to kill and i wanted to hate.
but then i found a palace, a kingdom of cotton.
so calm it was almost forgotten.
who would have seen the sovereign fate?
it was easy to get lost -
lord knows these four walls had a cost.
one day people would say if i was beauty or beast,
but in my peace, i did not care -
the television couldn't make me conscious
of their fake affair.
