There was once a girl who lived in a cage
Iron bars engulfed her fragile body,
Since the beginning of her age.
She kept the locks strictly tight
in her iron cage.
She blocked away every stream of light,
and made it her own stage.
The key she lost a long time ago,
So long she wasn't sure if it remained.
Soon she forgot of a key, and leaked her sane
Between a stripped pattern of bars and chains.
She began to paint around the edges,
Flowers and daisies on every side.
However she could pattern all the ledges,
But she couldn't see them without the light.
Her eyes began to lose themselves,
within her mind's own maze.
The flowers tried to re-paint themselves,
As if they were her craze.
But soon, her cage began to rust,
the metal bars began to crack.
One by one they began to bust,
Until they were each a metal stack.
And then out she flew
Out of her cage.
In a ring of ash
Lay a girl of unattached
Finally, her eyes wandered for flowers of perfection,
she could see no colour they maintained.
Because when she looked at the light's reflection,
on herself coloured ones remained.
