I was shocked. It was happening. The things that I never wanted was happening.

I looked at Omar and noticed him getting lectured by Mrs. Chatti. I looked at Emily again.

How was this possible?

Grandma said that the person who I was getting engaged to was two years older than me. But if Omar was the same grade as me then how was he two years older than me.

"Emily, is Omar two years older than me?" I asked her.

She looked at me, hesitating to answer. Then she nodded. "Omar and I are both twenty years old. Not eighteen."

I started at her in shock. None of them looked older though. Then . . .

"Yumna," Emily said. "I know it is kind of confusing but I promise I will explain everything about the age thing to you after the engagement."

"But-"

I didn't wanted to marry this jerk!

"Yumna, believe me. I didn't know that he decided to marry you," she said. "It was in Friday noon. I heard him talking to grandma Momoh. He looked worried and angry that time and then he suddenly came to dad and mom's room and talked to our parents. I don't know what he talked about but I heard mom and dad's decision that Omar is going to get engaged today."

So, it was Omar who wanted to marry me?

But why?

I didn't understand anything!

Isn't he aware that we were enemies in school?

Emily sighed. "At least, he isn't marrying a serial killer. Honestly, when I heard his engagement for the first time and that it is happening this weekend, I thought who is going to marry him this soon and especially since he is a jerk, so maybe he fell in love with a serial killer. But well . . ."

I looked at her.

"I am glad that he choose you," she said as she smiled. "You have no idea how long that jerk have waited for you."

I looked at her, confusingly.

Omar was waiting for me?

But, we just met like a month ago in school!

I didn't get it!

I was so confused when I heard a voice in microphone.

"Good evening, everybody," we heard a person's voice.

We turned around and saw a man wearing a business suit was standing on a stage. Uncle was standing beside him as well.

"Today is a wonderful day for all of us because my son is going to get engage to my childhood friend's daughter," he said.

"That's dad," Emily smiled.

I nodded. He did looked similar to Omar. At least his skin tone was similar to Omar.

"I would like now want to welcome my to be daughter-in-law, Yumna Hamdi, on the stage," Mr. Chatti said.

I stood there shocked. My muscles were not moving. There were so many things that made me confused and frustrated.

Emily pushed me towards the stage. "Go," she whispered.

I looked her but she smiled.

"I promise Omar won't eat you there," she said, pushing me farther towards the stage.

I sighed and walked to the stage. I wasn't in the mood of getting engaged. Especially with Omar.

I hated him till infinity.
