Logan groaned and shifted in his bed when he heard the lock to his door click.
What time is it?
He opened one eye to see his roommate, another Logic, walk through the door. His roommate raised an eyebrow but said nothing about the drowsy, bedraggled state he was currently in.
Logan let out an exasperated sigh and reached for his phone.
If it's not too late, I can sleep a little more.
He pushed the home button on his phone to see that the clock read 10:17am.
Ugh. That philosophy writing is due at 11. Do I have time to get it done?
He let his head fall back onto his pillow. He laid there for a minute, contemplating whether or not sleeping a little longer would be harmful. Logan decided that sleep wouldn't be bad thing and curled up in his blankets. As he started to drift back off to dreamland, a small whine jolted him back to an awakened state. A wave of guilt washed over his consciousness, prompting him to sit up and look at the small animal beside him.
"Good morning, Hawk. Do you want to-"
The dog instantly sat up and wagged its tail furiously. It was an indicator that he knew what Logan was going to ask. Logan chuckled. He lived to see his dog's eyes glow with excitement.
"Would you like to go for a walk? Need to go potty?"
Hawk immediately started to whine and pace around the bed.
"Okay, okay. Hold your leashes boy!"
Logan slowly sat up in trance like state on top his bed. He was very tired. Every fiber of his being ached and all he wanted to do was pull the blankets back over him and shut the world out.
I'm sorry Hawk...I'm just so tired...but you haven't been out since 6pm...argh!
Logan climbed down from his lofted bed and walked over to the shared dresser in the corner of the small dorm room. The first drawer held all of his button up dress shirts. They were all navy blue or black but he didn't mind. The dark colors seemed to be less distracting and more professional to him. He pulled one out and looked it over. It sagged in his hands. The once pristine shirt was now wrinkled from the lack of attention it once received.
I think I wore this a couple of days ago....no one will notice though. It's not like I've been going to class.
Logan shut the drawer and moved to the next one down. All it contained was several pairs of black dress pants. He quickly grabbed a pair, opting for one that didn't look too wrinkled, and reached for his final drawer. This drawer contained all of his undergarments and socks. He grabbed an undershirt and a pair of boxers before rummaging through the drawer for a pair of socks.
That's odd. I should have a clean pair of socks in here somewhere.
He searched his drawer for a few seconds longer but it was to no avail.
I guess I'll have to wear a dirty pair.
Normally Logan would have been appalled at the idea of wearing dirty socks, but today he couldn't care less. It was the last day before break and he had already missed half his classes.
Logan snapped his fingers and teleported to the bathroom to change out of his night clothes. He did so very quickly, avoiding any contact that could have occurred with another student. After he returned to the safety of his dorm room, he glanced at his reflection in the mirror. His skin was pale and dark bags were apparent under his eyes. Logan chuckled.
I could pass for Virgil looking like this. He would be so proud.
As he studied his complexion, he didn't notice his roommate staring at him.
"Logan. You know that it is against housing policies to teleport within residential buildings. If you do it again, I'll have to report you."
"Go ahead, Landon. See if I give a damn." Logan mumbled "I'm taking, Hawk outside."
Logan turned from the mirror to face the little dog laying in wait beside the door. After he hooked the leash onto Hawk's harness, Logan teleported both Hawk and himself into the cold November air.
The air that hit him made him shiver. It felt as though mother nature herself was throwing icy daggers into his chest while trying to grip his shoulders with long frozen fingers. Logan stood there, rubbing his arms in an attempt to warm up, but Hawk had other ideas. He was excited to be outside and he wanted to run around and search for squirrels until he would be inevitably dragged inside again. Logan watched in amusement as his furry friend darted from tree to tree. As a logic trait, he would never admit that he loved his little ball of fluff. Emotions were supposed to be for empathetic Moralities, not robotic Logics. As he walked around the courtyard he thought about what made Hawk so special.
Logan loved the fact that Hawk was small enough to teleport around the mindscape with him. He loved how the dog's ears were lopsided and how his tail curled. He enjoyed how much Hawk liked to play and appreciated how he would cuddle up against him at night. Logan looked up from the ground to smile at Hawk, expecting him to still be running around. However he found the dog looking up at from a sitting position and wagging his tail.
"What's the matter boy?"
Hawk whined impatiently.
"Oh..."
Logan did a quick sweep of his surroundings. They had already done a full lap around the dorm's courtyard and were now back to where they had started.
"We better head back inside. Patton will be picking us up at 3pm and the room is a mess. Can't leave it like that over Thanksgiving break."
A/N: I know I left this off in a weird place but I can't focus and have a migraine. Let me know what you guys think!
The picture is of my dog, Vishie (short for Vicious)...but she is now Logan's dog too. Idk...
Edit: I know people gage a book on the first "chapter" or so but my writing really improves after chapter 5....
