With that, Colton shook his head and shoved his phone under a pillow to avoid further distractions.
There was nothing that he could do other than to not give it any more attention than it already had.
Knowing his school, it was gonna be the topic of the year.
Or if she was lucky, the topic of the month.
He tried to shake away the gruesome images of high school girl fights that he had the unfortunate pleasure of getting involved in some times.
It wasn't something he wanted to focus on, especially not when he had bigger things to deal with himself.
Like Casey or writing.
And math.

Everyone stared.
Mira looked away, her legs shaking as she pushed herself to walk to class.
That night, no one came to help her.
It wasn't like in the books she read.
No knight in shining armour came to rescue her from the bullies or the villains.
Mira was left on her own. Left to fend for herself.
That was the reality.
She wished and prayed to God that she was just a character in a book and that all the pain would go away in a few chapters.

And she wasn't.
She wasn't a coward.
Or a slut.
She was just ordinary Mira.
But as she walked down that hallway with everyone's mocking and accusing eyes on her, the familiar nauseating feeling rose up again.
And she regretted not moving schools when she had the chance.
It was easier to act like you were brave than to actually be it, she realised.
She didn't understand why some people standing nearby began to snicker until she got to her locker.
Images from the video of her on the floor and screaming were stuck there for everyone to see.
