A week after the confrontation with Hawkman, Hawkgirl was walking around the Watchtower making sure everything was in order when she heard grunts coming from the training room. She headed to the training room to see Y/N doing press-ups with heavy weight constructs on his back, seemingly with no problems. She leaned against the wall watching him with a smile on her face
"547, 548, 549, 550!" Y/N counted through grunts of effort. Once he'd reached 600, he got rid of the constructs and got up, stretching his arms and phasing his helmet out to wipe his forehead of a little sweat. He noticed Hawkgirl leaned against the wall with a smile on her face. He smiled and walked to her before the two of them shared a kiss. Soon the communications system beeped and they went to answer it. Upon answering it, they noticed it was a Thanagarian female
"Lieutenant Shayera Hol. You betrayed your people for a being not worth your time. Your duty comes first, nothing else. Our hyperspace bypass in the Eioneus galaxy was finished, but you let emotion get in the way! Despite your feelings for the world's inhabitants, everything was finished" the Thanagarian spoke. Y/N was shocked to hear Shayera had been part of that operation in his home galaxy. Before she could say anything, Y/N spoke to the Thanagarian who had made contact
"Which planets were destroyed to make way for your bypass? How many innocent lives were taken because of your needs?!" Y/N asked the Thanagarian, angry about the news. The Thanagarian took out a datapad and began to read off it
"Planets destroyed for the Eioneus Hyperspace Bypass: Heronna, Thyropha, Corona Zephyrus and-" Before the Thanagarian could continue, Y/N interrupted, a furious expression now on his face
"WHAT?! Corona Zephyrus was destroyed to make way for your bypass?!" He shouted, his body visibly shaking with rage. The Thanagarian nodded with an indifferent face, obviously not caring about the total body count her race had amassed of innocent people
"Yes. Why would you be concerned about it? It was of no importance to anyone" She said with folded arms and a very straight face. Y/N couldn't hold it in anymore
"That planet WAS MY HOME!!!! MY HOME PLANET IS GONE, BILLIONS OF LIVES DESTROYED!!! INNOCENT PEOPLE ARE DEAD BECAUSE OF YOUR SELFISH NEEDS TO BUILD A DAMN BYPASS THAT YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T EVEN NEED IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! YOU DIDN'T EVEN LET US EVACUATE, YOU JUST DESTROYED MY HOME WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT ABOUT THE CASUALTY COUNT!!! AN ENTIRE RACE IS GONE!! I'M THE LAST OF MY PEOPLE, ALL BECAUSE OF YOU" He shouted at the Thanagarian in pure unspeakable fury, before he punched the screen ending the transmission. Hawkgirl touched his arm but he pulled his arm away from her
"Y/N...I'm so sorry...I tried to persuade my commanders to evacuate the planets, but they wouldn't listen" she said, but Y/N looked at her with anger
"You were there when my home was destroyed!!! BILLIONS of innocent people are dead! I don't want to even look at you anymore!" Y/N growled at her before he walked off, leaving Hawkgirl in tears. When he'd reached the hangar, he opened the door and flew into deep space to think back on what happened back in the communication center. He felt horrible, having shouted at Hawkgirl like that. He closed his eyes and began reciting the Indigo Tribe Oath to speak with Proselyte
"Tor lorek san, bor nakka mur,
Natromo faan tornek wot ur.
Ter Lantern ker lo Abin Sur,
Taan lek lek nok--Formorrow Sur!" Y/N spoke and Proselyte appeared
"Y/N. What seems to be of importance that you needed to summon me?" Proselyte asked. Y/N sighed
"I found out Hawkgirl's people were behind my home planet's destruction and she was there. In my anger, I lashed out at her and now I feel awful." he replied to the emotional entity. Proselyte took a moment to think about what Y/N had told them, before they spoke again
"I understand your anger towards her. But she did seem remorseful for her actions. In spite of your anger towards her people, Hawkgirl herself has been there for you. Maybe you can forgive her for her actions when your home was destroyed, but not the Thanagarians as a whole. She said she tried to persuade her superiors to evacuate the people, but they didn't heed her request. In a way, she may be responsible for your people's deaths, but she was the only one with enough compassion in her heart to at least attempt to save your people. Despite her being there when you lost your planet, she was not the one who gave the order to destroy it." Proselyte replied and Y/N thought about it. He sighed and began thinking of a way to apologise to Hawkgirl. A few minutes later, he headed back to the Watchtower. He saw Hawkgirl at the viewport of the control deck. He landed in the hangar and closed the door, before making his way to the control deck. he saw Hawkgirl sat in the chair. He sighed and slowly approached her
"Shayera..." Y/N said and Hawkgirl looked behind her at him. Y/N had a sorrowful expression and Hawkgirl's eyes looked at him, not looking him in the eyes as his face was looking at the floor. Y/N looked up at her
"I...I'm sorry for what I said to you. I was angry, and i am extremely sorry. Listen, if you no longer want us to be together, I understand very well. When that person said you were there, I assumed you were the one who wanted the planet destroyed. But when you tried to explain, I didn't listen. I'm a fool..." Y/N said, a few tears dropping from his eyes. Hawkgirl got up from the seat and approached him. Y/N looked at her, before Hawkgirl suddenly hugged him tightly
"I should have told you sooner Y/N. It's my fault. If I'd told you sooner, we could-" Before Hawkgirl could finish, Y/N kissed her. After they broke away, Y/N sighed
"I forgive you Shayera. I may not be able to forgive your people, or forget my home planet's destruction, but I know I can forgive you. I spoke with one of the emotional entities who power me, mainly the one of compassion, and they told me about forgiveness. While I can never forgive your people for destroying my world, I know for a fact that I forgive you Shayera. C-can you forgive me for shouting at you?" Y/N replied and Hawkgirl smiled and nodded before she hugged him
"Yes. I understand your anger towards me. We're both at fault, mainly me for not telling you sooner" she replied and kissed him, before they hugged each other closely. Y/N removed Hawkgirl's helmet and gazed at her face.

He'd seen it a lot, but every time he saw her face, he couldn't help but wish he could see it every hour of every day because she was so beautiful. Hawkgirl placed a hand on his chest and kissed him deeply, running her other hand through his hair. Y/N knew that while Shayera was a Thanagarian, she was the only one he'd trust.
