They ended up getting on the road earlier than 9 due to the fact that neither of them were able to sleep. Stiles' nerves at what he would say and what they would think of him made getting to sleep practically impossible whilst Lydia was too excited to relax enough for sleep.

They decided to take Lydia's car so it wouldn't seem odd that she turned up without it, and because Stiles was so nervous that he didn't think he would be able to focus enough to drive. It was a weird feeling for him to be this scared about something, it was something he hadn't experienced in the past few years and felt like an entirely foreign concept now, despite his near-constant anxiety throughout high school.

To try and ease the tension they had settled on reminiscing old stories from when they were in high school and so the time went too fast for Stiles' liking before they were crossing the town sign and entering a place he didn't think he would ever return to.

Stiles was aware of Lydia noticing his sudden mood shift as they crossed the border into Beacon Hills.

"Do you want to go and eat first or make our way over to your old house to see everyone?" She asked him. Jackson had already texted that everyone had arrived and explained to them that Lydia had been catching up with an old friend so was going to be late.

Their plan was that Lydia would tell them she had invited said friend over for the day and when they said yes to them being there (because the McCall pack was too inviting for its own good in Stiles' opinion) then Stiles would reveal himself to them all.

All three of them were aware of how shitty the plan was but it was the best they could come up with at such short notice and ultimately it didn't matter as long as Stiles got to see them all again.

"No, we'll stick with the plan. Waiting for any longer is just going to make my nerves worse than they already are and I don't think I could eat anything right now anyway." He replied, swallowing the lump that had formed in his throat as she turned down the road that led towards his house.

'Well here goes'.
