School was surprisingly not the usual hell it ordinarily is. The 'Elite' didn't bother me but that didn't mean that they wouldn't glare daggers at me.
If looks could kill lets just say the police would have been looking at a decapitated body with burn marks and slash marks with an extremely sharp blade bursting through my heart and stuck to the floor. I would be barely recognizable. They would have nightmares.
Anyhow, I am now hurriedly on my way to the apartment in order to get there before her and lock myself in my room to not hear her daily complaints. Out of the blue, I hear footsteps coming from behind, I don't dwell much on that as there are many houses in this area. Maybe it's just a person coming back home after going to the store I try to reassure myself.
I turn the last corner and still the footsteps are behind me. Now something's wrong, someone's following me! What do they want with me?
I pick up my pace and rush into the building, as usual it looks deserted and I go up the stairs 2 at a time and through the dark hallway. I go through my bag in search of my keys. This is taking longer than I thought. Where are they?
I hear the footsteps getting louder and louder. That's it I'm gonna die! This is a bad neighborhood it could be anyone, a gang member, gang leader, rapist, arsonist, murderer? What do I do? Think Maria!
A man emerges from the door leading to the stairs. I stare at him in shock with wide eyes and my mouth agape. He looks familiar...black hoodie and black sweatpants...where did I see him before?
"Good evening" he says and unlocks the door to the apartment opposite mine. Oh...wow! he lives here which is why he was going the same way I was! You're so paranoid Maria!
Keys in hand I hastily unlock the front door and step inside. After locking it, I head directly to my room and leave my bag there. Deciding to make myself a toast, I make my way to the kitchen and open the refrigerator only to find it empty. Great!
Annoyed, I go to have a shower. The warm water pours over me like a never ending river. What happened to all my class mates today? None of them bullied me. Does Nick have anything to do with this? Does he still want me to tutor him?
Confused and frustrated, I step out of the comforting warmth and wear some leggings and a hoodie. I am starving and decide to go buy something to soothe my raging stomach.
The cold wind slaps my frail body hard as I walk on the pavement on my way to the small diner at the end of the road. I stick my hands in my pocket and fasten my pace.
In 2 minutes, I push open the door and everyone is anouced of my arrival due to the bell in the door way. I notice some heads turn my way with the scrutinising eyes of their owners assessing whether I am a threat. I try to ignore them as I keep my head down and find a booth to sit.
After finishing taking the order of a couple 2 tables ahead of me, the waitress wearing an extremely short dress that barely covers her butt came to take my order. "Hi, what would you like to order?" she asks in a bored tone. "burger and fries" is my curt reply. She jots it down and mumbles a quick 'ok' before rushing to the counter to inform the cook.
I take out my phone and go to my music file and plug in my earphones. Grand Piano by Nicki Minaj comes on and I close my eyes to enjoy the song.
I am not even a minute into the song that the bell chimes to indicate a new customer's presence. All eyes turn to the person and even after a good 5 seconds they are all still staring at him intriguing me. My curiosity finally got the better of me and I turn my torso to the customer that seems to be getting everyone's attention.
I am shocked to see the same man from before. This time he has on jeans, a casual t-shirt and a black leather jacket that enhance his mesmerising ocean orbs. He looks directly into my eyes and my breathing stops.
He is the same guy from school, the one I chased and who got away in the red Mustang! He followed me home and is my neighbor! Why does he show up everywhere I go?!
I am snapped out of my daze when he starts to move in my direction. I start to panick internally at the thought of a stranger speaking to me. What? Don't judge I'm not a social butterfly!
Too consumed in my own thoughts I don't notice him taking a seat at the table behind me. After 5 minutes I am getting horribly impatient. Where is the waitress? Why is my order not ready yet? The bell chimed again and in walks a purple eyed man with a sharp jawline and brown hair. The waitress struts my way and places my order on the table but I pay no attention to her. The stranger has managed to get all my attention.
He is dressed in blue jeans, a black shirt that acts like a second skin showing off his defined muscles. What are you thinking Maria?! Stop he will think you're desperate if you keep staring! scolds my subconscious at me.
I shamefully look back to the table and start fiddling with my fingers, at least he didn't catch me staring.
I pick up a fry and stuff it in my mouth and what I taste is heavenly. It has been months since I had such a nice meal and I stuff all the food in my mouth like a pig. I get some weird glances from the waitress but I don't care. She won't understand me. They never do, all they do is judge.
I quickly finish my dinner and pay for the delicious meal. On my way out I see the purple eyed man and my neighbor talking animatedly as if they are friends that haven't seen each other in a long time. They glance at me and before they can ask me anything, I rush out of the diner and walk back to the deserted appartment knowing I will be alone as she is most probably shoving her tongue down some poor soul's throat.
Once I have safely arrived, I head to my desk and start on my homework. The next 30 minutes are spent writing an analysis on the character Eddy from Miller's A View from the Bridge. Within 1 hour, I am done with my homework and don't have to complete the 'Elite' s'. Thus, I head to bed, quickly falling into a deep slumber taking no time to check out the reason behind the ping noise coming from my phone.
