Rachel is one of those characters that I absolutely love, but I oddly don't want to ship her with anyone. Characters like these always make me feel bad, because I feel that if I love a character so much, I should want them to find someone who can love them like I do. But then I remember characters like Reyna who are great because they find strength in their lonelines...you can see where I'm going with this.
Along with me just wanting Rachel and Reyna to find happiness in being single, I just find the ship so goddamn random. You want Reyna to be into a girl? Okay, but why Rachel? That's such an odd choice. Annabeth, the girl Reyna most interacts with? Nah. Piper, the girl who perfectly compliments Reyna? Nah. Thalia, someone who Reyna has interacted with and has plenty of reasons to like? Nah. Drew Tanaka, who may not interact with Reyna, but at least could help develop both of their characters in ways that no one ever does? Nope.
Instead, let's have Rachel!! Why? Because we like her, and every girl we like must automatically be a lesbian!! ...Uh-huh, if you say so.
Reychel has a lot of gorgeous fanart. I went into the tag and I found so much gorgeous stuff, more than I can say for fucking Clarilena that actually has interaction. Yet I couldn't find anything that Reychel had that any of the other better Reyna ships didn't. Playful dynamic? Theyna has that. Mature girls understanding each other? Canon thing for Reynabeth. And uh...yeah, that's all I found.
I don't get this ship. It's one of those ships where it bugs me because I don't get it. If Reychel had a bigger following I would probably have a massive distaste for it, like the distaste I have for ships that are random and people think they're highly superior than ships that actually make sense. Luckily, it's a relatively small ship (about the size of like, Theyna at least), so I'm mostly just left saying nah.
