          VALERIE HALE IS SO OVER BEING SEVENTEEN. Which is pretty dramatic, considering she has only been seventeen for six days now. Then again, most things about Valerie tend to lean towards dramatic. There isn't a normal thing about her. Not that she had ever minded.

     First of all — the elephant in the room. Okay yes, Valerie is a witch. But she doesn't ride around on a broomstick, and she certainly isn't green. She comes from a long line of ancestral magic that adds just the perfect amount of glitter to her blood to really make things interesting. Although, she would've been just fine without the whole, you know — witch thing thrown into the mix.

     Her father was a Hale. A line just as long as her mothers but magical of a different breed. Werewolves. Bound to the moon and linked by the magic of the first batch of witches. And while Valerie doesn't run with the dogs, she's known to feel especially powerful when the moon is at its fullest. Just another side effect of the universe not knowing what the hell to do with her.

     It was a rarity to be born into one supernatural bloodline, let alone two. And as far as Valerie knows, she was the only one of her kind. Her parents had only been together long enough for Rochelle Santos to pop out one mutant baby and split. Apparently the ancestors weren't so happy with the daughter to the head of the coven getting down with a werewolf. And a Hale? Yeah, that didn't fly. So it was bye-bye Beacon Hills and hello Brooklyn, New York — the place where Valerie had formed her ragtag trio.

     But magic has a sneaky tendency to pull things — well, people, really — where they are needed most without telling them why. And because Beacon Hills is a cesspool of supernatural vomit, Valerie's ancestors are like, totally forcing her to save the day.

Whatever. It's not like she has anything better to do. Junior year just got a lot more interesting.
