Makayla
Three and a half hours later, I finally finished contemplating on if my bag was too heavy, and drifted off to sleep.
For two hours.
At three in the morning, I arose to my phone going off like a firetruck. Never ending. So of course, I picked it up, only to hear Faith.
"Why would you call me in the middle of the night?" I asked, groggily.
"Because it's time for us to go Makayla. You hear me?" She asked, wide awake.
"This early?" I moaned, is it too much to ask for a girl to simply get her beauty sleep?
"Yes, I know I sound irrational, but the earlier we leave, the earlier we see each other and find a place to stay."
"Ugh. Fine..." I grumbled, as I rubbed my eyes, and lazily slid out of bed, "but just this once, you hear me? This is like the dentist's office all over again..."
"Why do you keep referencing the dentist's office?" She asked, confused.
"Because that was a horrible experience, much like having to Segway in the pitch black, when who knows when some random kid could pop out and scare the life out of me," I replied, quietly trying to lay back down into my bed.
"Well, I am sorry I want to see you again! Now, knowing you, I know for a fact your laying back in bed. Get up." She snapped before I could even hit my head to the pillow.
"Ughhh... fine...." I groaned again, as I for real got up out of bed and flicked the lights on. Typically, neighbors would be concerned to see a twelve-year-old girl's room light flash on in the middle of the night, but since I really had no neighbors...
"I'm going to get up and eat, I will call you when we need to be out of the door." Faith said, harshly.
"Okay..."
And she hung up the phone. Who knew that our world would come down to this. Almost teenagers Segwaying there way through the city, what has our world come too?
Sleepy, I opened my drawers and changed into appropriate clothes for the weather change, and grabbed my bag. I could not believe the home I had lived in my whole life, was being taken from me, all because of some stupid, stupid experiment.
I clambered down the stairs and noticed specific details were different about m house. First of all, there was a huge picture of Alexander Hamilton hung above the fireplace. Second, the dining room was a whole different color, instead of a normal tan, it was a bright, bubblegum pink. ANd third, the chairs were moved around. Huh... My thoughts churned. None of this was here yesterday, and I know I would have noticed someone breaking in and making noise...
Confused, I ate a few bowls of cereal, and last minute stuffed snacks into my bag.
Then, my phone rang. It's now or never...
