I'm a little more than Useless

Chapter 13

As I walked through the open door that revealed a vast amount of wolves, suddenly an incredible smell hit me.It smelt like rain and freshly cut grass. My senses lit up at the intoxicating smell as I tried to find the source of my fascination. I started to follow it but I bumped into Tyler, "Hey dude. Have you ever seen so many people in this room before?" he said, laughing.

I could not concentrate on what he was saying and I was frankly getting extremely annoyed with him for getting in my way. I felt my eyes change and he stepped backwards away from me. I pushed past him following the tantalizing smell through the crowds.

My mind waivering from reality, everything around me became blurred as all I could focus on was what or who that smell was coming from. I was no longer the master of my own body as my legs moved or rather glided forward on their own. Each step purposefully carrying me closer to the intended destination. The aroma intensified and Chann grew evermore restless in my mind. The world seeming to somehow become clearer but I was focused on only one thing.

I looked up to see the most beautiful creature I ever laid my eyes on. Her curly brown hair cascaded down her back and her light brown eyes gleamed and glistened beautifully. She was of a brown complexion which only seemed to accentuate her beauty. She had her nose in the air and was sniffing around frantically. Our eyes met and I walked closer to her and studied her while she returned the favour. I smiled widely and grabbed her into a hug and brought her lips to mine in a lust-filled kiss.

She froze when I took her into my embrace and that cut me like a knife. However, she relaxed quickly and kissed me back. We broke apart, panting and I nestled my head in the crook of her neck as the whole world disappeared, leaving just us.

I felt Chann take control , "My Mate." he whispered in her ear in his husky voice.

Jesse PoV

I walked into the sun room with my hands burrowed deep within my pockets. When I entered I was surprised to see everyone so quiet. They were all looking in the same direction and naturally I wanted to see what all the commotion was about. I found my older brother, Tyler and stood next to him.

"What's going on?" I asked, suddenly. Apparently catching Tyler, who was supposed to soon be the head of pack security, off guard.

Tyler had a huge smile on his face which faded quickly and he looked at me uneasily, "Craven found his mate..."

"Really?! That's awesome! Who is it?" I asked, excitedly.

Tyler shifted unevenly on his feet and looked in the direction everyone was looking.
"Go see like everyone else," he snapped, no longer making eye-contact, moving towards where his friends were.

Okay that was weird, I thought. I did as my brother said and I walked closer to the action. At the middle of the crowd I saw Craven hugging a girl. They both seemed to have forgotten they were other people in here. They were holding each other as if they were to let go, the other would cease to exist.

I was happy for the guy, he seemed to have walked into some good luck being found by our pack. I walked a little closer to them, looking around to find my family when I realised everyone was staring at me now. What did I do? Murmurs were going through the room and I heard my name in all of them.

I shook it off and looked closely at Craven and his mate to see who was the lucky girl. That's when realisation hit me. That skin! Those brown curls! I would know them anywhere! Craven's mate was Katelyn. My Katelyn.

A growl slipped from my lips and I rushed at Kate and Craven. I pulled her off him and stood, protectively in front of her. Craven looked shocked and upset but there was something else in his eyes that was mixed with anger and possessiveness very quickly, love and longing.
