Craven PoV
The pack has been training tirelessly for four days straight and we are all getting really strong. We all have put on muscle mass and the shifted wolves are all very muscular and huge now.
All the kids in the pack had been expected to shift and thanks to Curtis' help and training, they all did. That was an achievement because the youngest in the pack is three. A three year old shifting is apparently usually unheard of.
Through training I gained some more friends but I usually still just hung out with Tyler and Seth. Everyone accepted me wholeheartedly. I am so glad this pack saved me, most people won't take in a random boy and risk their life and the lives of their whole pack and family for him.
After all the hard work everyone put in over these days we were taking a break today because Jesse was coming home today. However, no one actually got a break except Kennedy because she had us clean the pack house while she dictated.
Which was actually worse than training because this house was huge and Kennedy was crazy. For example, she was letting some little kids clean a chandelier; unsupervised.
However, since Curtis had gotten all the kids to shift he wanted to see if he could get me to shift as well. Everyone else was convinced he just wanted to get out of doing chores.
I made my way outside; people were everywhere raking leaves and meticulously cleaning the grounds. I ran to the end of the field, weaving through the trees, where the lake was and found Curtis looking out at the shimmering water with only a pants on .I pushed my hands in my pockets and walked slowly towards him and stood on his right.
"Hey Curtis"
He didn't respond and just kept looking at the water so I looked with him.
After a minute or so of silence he finally spoke,"Isn't it amazing? How we have a god-given gift to appear one way but can turn into something completely different that shows our inner self. A gift that was passed down for centuries by our fathers and grandfathers and their fathers before them. Isn't it just simply amazing?"
"I guess...I wouldn't really know."
He smiled at the water,"But you do, Craven. I was thinking and I realised maybe the reason why your wolf never graced you with his presence is because you never knew your inner self. You had the wrong perception about yourself."
I was staring at him in awe. "How did you get so deep?"
His face fell and grew serious, "I am serious Craven. When I met you. You were certain that you were weak but as soon as you realized and began to accept that you weren't and began to believe that you were strong your wolf instincts started coming in. Maybe your wolf needs you to realize you are strong as well because he is too,"
I nodded, thinking carefully about what he was saying.
He looked at me, "Craven you are not weak. You need to realize that and let your wolf know you realize it. Most wolves know they are strong from a young age so they shift. You would have probably shifted weak if your wolf really were an omega but yours is an Alpha so he wouldn't shift when you were weak simply out of pride."
His words were now starting to sink in and apart of me was convinced that he had figured out my predicament. Although, another part was not so convinced and the doubt was fuelling my fears.
"Craven. Concentrate. You are strong. Think of becoming a wolf." Curtis urged, "Come on. Concentrate."
I tried my hardest and I concentrated but all I could do was grow out my nails. I sighed, defeatedly. I can't do this.
