My theory:
Maybe he wants to be more than friends with Andy/ wants Andy to be his boyfriend. But I guess they're already together (bc once Rye said leave my boyfriend alone!). So maybe they aren't together yet or maybe they are but Rye just thought of the time where they weren't together yet and wanted Andy to be his boyfriend
