        James Montegomery had a great life, a wonderful husband and a beautiful baby boy. But after James and Stan had Gabriel, Stan changed. He became violent, he told James Gabriel was an abomination and that he never wanted kids. He took his anger out on her, he would beat her constantly. Until one night James gets the last word, and stabs her husband to make him stop beating her. The second she's realized what she's done, she runs upstair packs two bags (one for her and one for Gabriel), takes her son and runs. She takes a bus to New Orleans and finds a place to stay and a job to bring in money. After a week of being in New Orleans she meets a new friend who used to live here but has moved back. Her name is Rebekah Mikaelson. Once the two become more aquanted, Rebekah brings James and Gabriel to meet the family. The second she met Elijah she felt a spark something that told her that he would be the one person she could trust.
